I'm interested too. Twitter makes it seem like Jordan Jernigan (and his mom) had a great time. I assume we're on him hard. Does he project as a receiver at the next level?

I'll say it again- if we sign 10 of the top 15 in Mississippi we will dominate the state and I will be very happy. And I believe we will.
Thats going to be very hard to do that. But we can still have a banner class in state anyway

On the bball side, 2019 5* DJ Jeffries from Olive Branch is set to announce his decision at 7PM today. He says it's between us, Bama, and Kentucky. Although it looks like he's going to Kentucky.

Recruiting update heading into spring ball next week and into the camps...
As stated by a few this staff is an upgrade from top to bottom in coaching and recruiting. That and this is from a returning coach
Just be patient when it comes to this class. Just wait till you get all the feedback from parents and coaches about CJM . It’s going to be beyond positive. He gets it and understands it.
Lots of negative recruiting against us ( expected) “What offense is going to be run?. What Defense ? How are you going to fit their scheme ?.. Who are your position coaches ?... Ect..
Once the players here start spring ball and see the staff in action it will be much easier for them to sell the program to the recruits. They can’t do that right now .
So everyone’s don’t be so discouraged if we don’t have a number of early commits like last year. They will come . This class also is very tight , most want to play together. Once we get spring ball going, camps this summer, and the most importantly kick ass this season things will fall in place with this class.
And he did say that once everyone starts breaks down rosters , who’s back , who’s coming in, impact players Ect.. don’t be shocked if we are in The upper half of a lot of preseason polls.
This team is good.

We've got a few big advantages too. We lose a ton on defense and the defensive talent in this class is very deep. Lots of playing time will be available. Same but to a lesser extent at a lot of other positions too. The fact we're getting high end prospects on campus multiple times should tell you all you need to know. We may not get them all, but we'll get a few and we're getting our name out there a lot better (no comparison). Hopefully they can reel in a lot of these guys.

Handy decommitted from LSU. He was committed for...........10 days.......
Anyway, I'm sure OM got desperate here, but this was ridiculous. Scott Lashely's commitment to MSU may have been the shortest evahh & maybe Raequan Davis, but I'm not sure he counts.

I don't think it was anything OM done. The kid has been talking about his recruitment was still open the moment he left LSU campus. He like a lot of kids just got caught up in the moment & made an emotional decision. Now that excitement has worn off he realizes he reacted too quick. I could see him committing & de-committing a couple more times.

I am convinced of this about Mullen after talking to people who would know. Mullen never wanted to win big here. That is evident in his recruiting staff. He wanted to win just enough to get a Florida job. I think we are going to find out with this staff that we can win a lot more SEC games. I appreciate what Dan did, but I am pissed we didn't recruit better while Dak was on campus.

After that run when we were no 1 for 5 weeks and dak returning was the most pitiful recruiting effort in the history of college football. Some here were making excuses for muffins like how you need to be on the kids for several years and next year we'll blow it out of the water. Bullshit.

This year was the first game in 10 tries that he ass didn't pucker up against Saban....IN THE FIRST QTR. It eventually did with 5 minutes to go when he got conservative. He didn't know what pressure was at MSU. Just wait until he goes up against Tenn., Ga., and Fla. St. on a yearly basis and their fanbase expects winning each of those.

Ani Izuchukwu is a four star DE/OLB that is getting some CB's to MSU as well. It sounds like Diwun Black may be getting back in the boat as well.
I suspect recruits are going to wait and see how we look with Joe this season before they pull the trigger in general. It's already a much different vibe with Joe and that's a good thing.

In the quest to land the best recruiting class in MSU history, it appears that Moorhead has hit his drive straight down the middle of the fairway at about 315 yards and possibly cut off part of the dogleg
Now, that means nothing, but it appears that things are headed in the right direction.

I don't think he was good at closing highly rated guys and I am not sure if he wanted to. What he was good at and what makes the 2018 loaded was his ability to find rough diamonds that everyone else looked past and he was committed to getting the best he could from the State of MS.

He wanted the kids to come to him first. That worked to find the underrated guys that would work their asses off and that’s how the “diamonds” were found.

I feel like his connection with Moorhead is our ace in the hole. It'll just come down to competition. He'll probably have a better chance to get on the field earlier at USCe, but from a development standpoint we're far and away the best option between the two

So, once the appeal is heard & denied, will players that have already taken an unofficial visit be allowed to take another?

The penalty will start at the point the appeal is (if) denied, it will last for the length of probation which is 4 years. The probation period is 4 years from the time the COI handed down their verdict. Prior visits will not count.

If (big if) they can hold TCUN to 1 unofficial per recruit for 3.5 years it will cripple UM. Think about it, every other program get's to bring recruits on campus as many time as they want and Mississippi gets 2 shots 1 unofficial and 1 official!

I told everyone just be patient. Give these recruits time to see how CJM and the staff operate , give our players time to tell these recruits how it’s night and day compared to last year , give these high school coaches a little time to see how CJM and this staff is a breath of fresh air, give some time and them see the team kicking ass this fall...
The commits will come. And to be honest there a couple that would commit right now if we pushed them too.

I think everyone is going to be surprised in a very good and positive way in January and February with our recruiting.
I think getting Fabien Lovett back in the boat was just the first sign of things to come because had Dan still been around I honestly don't think we get him.

If they break this rule, they're going to get caught very quickly. All the NCAA has to do is loosely monitor a few of their top targets' social media. The real question is whether the NCAA is interested in enforcing it.

They're not going to be interested in enforcing it. Think about how bad a look it will be if they try to stop students from visiting a school they are interested in. The only challenge to them will be getting the visits going, but once a recruit is interested in coming and they know he is interested in playing the game, I doubt there's going to be much the NCAA can or will do.

Yeah I think you can pretty much eliminate the NCAA enforcing anything. They only care about making money. I had held out hope that they might wail on unm but when that didn't happen with all the violations they had, it showed me enforcement and penalties are a thing of the past.

Yeah I think you can pretty much eliminate the NCAA enforcing anything. They only care about making money. I had held out hope that they might wail on unm but when that didn't happen with all the violations they had, it showed me enforcement and penalties are a thing of the past.
To be honest my hope for wanting Ole Miss to get nailed was/is twofold:
1. They had to cheat and because they did it in part took away some things that we would and should have achieved. They will in fact likely have to vacate some of those accomplishments and there is no question that that the accomplishments that they did achieve are at best tarnished.
2. I had come to the realization that Ole Miss being on probation was the only way that Dan would be able to recruit to his full potential. Of course, I was assuming at the time that Dan would stay.
The good news on that is Dan left. That was as far as recruiting goes a bigger blow to Ole Miss recruiting than anything the NCAA did. My theory for awhile after hearing about some of the backstories on how recruiting battles went down was that Dan was as much and actually MORE of a problem than Ole Miss paying recruits. MSU landing defensive players like Leo Lewis, Chris Jones, PJ Jones, and etc. seemed to reinforce that as they were offered money and wanted badly by Ole Miss and yet we got all of them. Some of them when Ole Miss was going crazy with their recruiting parties even. But notice very few high end in state prospects on the offensive side where the country club lived.
Even worse a lot of things that the old staff wasn't doing were things that were so simple that I think it would massively upset a lot of our fans. Things like just quitting on a recruit or not calling them and paying them any attention. The bottom line is the effort simply wasn't there in recruiting on the offensive side of the ball from the last staff. And even worse they let their arrogance blind them in terms of making improvements. That's why I was so adamant about getting rid of Hevesy and honestly should have been just adamant about getting rid of Sallach and Gonzalez.

If this plays out like the CBs are projecting (and holds) - wow this could be blue bloodesque recruiting. We still have a legit shot with Ronald Thompkins, as well. Not to mention all of the in-state guys. I am beside myself.

Here are my thoughts
1. Moorhead is "cooler" than many think. He clicks with kids, and with their families. Just a good man and it shows.
2. He and his staff are making a commitment to recruit every day. Never skip a day.
3. We are getting a slight bump with practices going on. Recruits are seeing that coach is sharp.
4. Coach has a staff that builds relationships and can flat coach.
With a December signing period, some schools are going to rise and fall in the eyes of recruits based upon performance. We should be really good this fall. That will help us hold the out-of-state guys especially. Imagine Torbor walking the halls of his school after we whip LSU. Recruits want to feel important. Winning makes their offer look more prestigious. We need to win big this fall. This is the most important class in years to our program.

This class could send us to new heights. It could also drop us back to the cellar.
1. The talent in 2019 in Mississippi is the best in years.
2. We are losing many players after this season.
3. Ole Miss is reeling.
4. Moorhead can build momentum.
5. 2018 season should be great. 2019 season is a rebuild of sorts.
A mediocre class would be a huge lost opportunity. I love where we stand right now. This class could be incredible. Moorhead can't let this opportunity slip past. Lots of talent, and lots of depth. I like where we are right now,

2019 is a rebuild of sorts, but we have some Key pieces coming back for 2019 -
QB - Key as Jr.
RB - Kylin & Nick Gibson
WR - Only lose Dear and Jackson
OL - 2 returning starters (Eiland & Reese), plus Williams, Story, Parker, Suggs as a base (definitely thin, but good)
TE - everyone of importance back
DL - Mullins, Spencer, Kobe, Fletcher Adams, Autry, and if we are lucky Rivers (very good but not elite)
LB - Leo (hopefully), Errol, and Willie as a base
CB - Guidry and Dantzler
S - Landrews, ????
That's not a bad starting point 18 months out, and doesn't factor in any of RSF from 2017, the 2018 FR, or the 2019 FR. We needs lots of young guys to get appropriate playing time this year to be ready for '19.

OL - 3 returning starters (Eiland Reese & Williams)
TE - Johnson graduates
DL - Mullins transferred before last season. Return Rivers, Spencer, Jones, Adams, Autry, & Jackson. RS guys like Lovett, Crumedy, & Robinson. Add potentially the best DL class we've ever signed in the 2019 class.
LB - No Sr this year
CB - Guidry is a Safety not a CB. Dantzler & Williams the lead guys
Nickel/Safety - Cole, Landrews, Guidry, Murphy, & Morgan-Walker all return

We are keeping Montravious Richardson for now even though personally I'm not a big fan of his. Anyone that redshirts in JUCO gives me pause.
That said- I think we get Charles Cross from Laurel who is really good and we have made some big moves with Brandon Cunningham a four star OL from St. Martin on the Gulf Coast. Cross should be at least a high three star if not four star if evaluated properly but you know how that goes.
The biggest difference is we have offered a lot more offensive linemen in the process and we haven't just given up on a guy like Cunningham just because he is committed to Miami and was allegedly an Ole Miss fan. Hevesy didn't even offer Cunningham because of some bullshit about his arms or something like that despite being a four star guy and Miami taking his commitment.
We have a commitment from DJ James who is a CB from the Mobile area and I like him a lot despite the fact that he is a three star guy and we may get a commitment from a CB in the NOLA area named Greg Brooks who I haven't seen yet.

I don't know if I would call 2019 a rebuild year or not. It's pretty rare for us to return as much as we are in 2018- the most returning starters in my fan lifetime with obvious upgrades at WR.
But we have:
QB- Key- four star QB who has some starting experience and I think Moorhead will use him a lot like Penn State used Tommy Stephens the back-up at Penn State last year. It will be his first year as a starter, but I think he will have a lot of playing experience.
RB- Kylin- I think he is a special player for us and busts out this year.
WR- Guidry, Todd, Heath, Couch as the outside guys and they will all be upper classmen except for Heath who I think will be a solid starter for us at worst and has a chance to be a special player also. Whop I think has a chance to be special as well.
Slot- Whop, Deddrick Thomas, and Dear all come back. I'm interested to see how we use Dear as I consider him more of an ATH like a Percy Harvin than a true slot WR. Thomas is a veteran and Whop and Key go way back. Austin Williams will be a good player for us also.
TE- Farrod will be a senior. If I am MSU I might consider bulking up Williams and using him as a TE/WR/H-Back to get him on the field more.
OL- We need to find a center. I think we need to move Reese to guard at some point as well. If it were me I would go LT- Eiland, LG- Reese, C- Story who has played some but has had injuries, RG- Williams, RT- Champion. That's a line with two juniors and three seniors on it. I think Tyre Phillips and maybe even Dolla Bill could start as well. I noticed that we moved a walk-on Matt Stanic to center recently and he is a big dude. Maybe he becomes the next Ben Beckwith except at center.
DL- Kind of depends on if Rivers comes back and Simmons as well although I don't expect Simmons to return for his senior year. Spencer, Kobe, and Adams have all played and will be upperclassmen. Autry will have playing experience by this time next year as well. We obviously won't have the depth that we do now but I like Aaron Odom, Fabien Lovett, Jaden Crumedy, James Jackson, and Devon Robinson.
LB- Leo, Erroll, and Willie Gay is a very good group of linebackers and all three will be upperclassmen. Washington is a solid role player and we'll see what Kilby-Lane brings to the table. I like Jett Johnson as a player too and I think he will help us with depth next year as a redshirt freshman.
CB- Love Dantzler and he will be a junior. The other spot is a question mark- Marcus Murphy? JUCO CB? Brian Cole? I'd have to guess that Tyler Williams is the favorite at the moment.
S- This group actually concerns me more than the DL or CB at the moment which is early. My guess at the moment is Brian Cole and Marcus Murphy. I do like Landon Guidry a lot but I'm not sure he starts in 2019. If we can flip Brandon Turnage I think he would have a very good chance of starting.

I hope they go that route and sign a ton of players that don’t make it to campus. If they do that they are basically self punishing because you can only sign 25 period. So if they sign 25 and only 20 make it to campus, that plan will put them at averaging 80 total players over a 4 year period. With attrition that would put them somewhere between 70-75. They got 21 last year. If they only get 20 on campus this year that puts them at 41 players over 2 years.
So let’s encourage this get people committed that won’t make it to campus. It’s a sure fire way to kill your program.

I think their plan is simple. Get lots of commits, even if they won't qualify. For instance, they are now touting that their recruiting class is ranked #2 nationally. They believe the ranking helps the recruiting momentum. They may wind up with 30-35 commits. Then you back off last minute and only sign the allowed 25 that can get in. While the recruiting class might end up ranked #42, they will have enjoyed the months in the top 10, and will have tried to use that top 10 ranking in their recruiting pitches.
This is going to be a bumpy ride, with people melting about every twitter post, every commit and decommit, etc. Just relax and watch and it will all be fine. Our class will be far superior to the Ole Miss class.
Yancy is already touting "the current #2 class in the nation". Anybody who follows this stuff knows that recruiting rankings are bullcrap at this point, because 10 commits that are 2 stars will outrank 2 commits that are 5 stars. It's in the numbers.
As of this moment, Miami of Ohio has a class ranked higher than Ohio State. That's because Miami of Ohio has 8 recruits (average 79.32) and Ohio State has 3 recruits (average 93.34). We know it won't stay that way.

Look, I don't care what Yancy or Nafoom says. Whatever those things are, Diwun Black didn't quote them. At the end of the day, Diwun quoted preachermatt (and a few others) talking trash about him. That's absolutely unacceptable and makes us look like trash.
Below is the tweet that Diwun quoted.

Yeah, this is pretty egregious, and I definitely made a point to call him on it when he posted it.

Not sure why Preach is getting slammed while fancy gets a pass though. fancy said he'd need to get his GED then go Juco not too long back. that would indeed be a "special" H.S. degree.

I think it's because we have no control over fancy. He isn't on our board.
And, more importantly, Diwun didn't quote Yancy. He quoted preacher. If Yancy's trash talking a recruit was quoted by said recruit, I'd laugh at OM. And if the posters on the spirit had any backbone, they'd slam Yancy for it.

I can dig that and I here you. I guess the timing of the "flip" didn't help either regarding how it's playing out. It's weird though how one single post on the internet and D.Black chalks that up to our entire university as us hating on him or something.

He's not getting a pass, at least from us on this board. But regardless of how stupid Yancy is, we don't need posters here matching him in retardation. Matt needs to STFU.

Yep. It's not fair. But it only takes one idiot to ruin our PR.

We should not talk bad about a potential recruits grades or anything else. We are trying to enroll these guys.

No shit. It's beyond stupid. That's why the recruiting threads should probably be private, just like the poly board. That, or there is zero tolerance for dumbassery, like the example Preach just exhibited.

Seems like more so on this board now, there appears to be several who want to be the first to post something whether is it is good or bad (usually negative) concerning our athletic programs, but they normally don't have all the facts, nor do they think before they post.

Because our coaches are trying to recruit kids to come to MSU, and they don't need to have to overcome obstacles created by keyboard cowboys speculating or wanting to be first at posting something. Then some of these same posters bitch about our recruiting. Well posting negative things about kids we are recruiting has no negative ramifications, huh?

maybe it's time we start using tsun tactics then. start cutting and pasting fancy's shit and tweet it to the croots. hell, he's a spokesperson of some sort with tsun. that would be a starter. then let's go to the shit bird boards and start cutting and pasting their negative shit too. tweet it to the croots.
why not play their game?

Should we lower ourselves to tsun's sub-standards? I think not!! 1st thing do not tweet a 16 or 17 year old. If you do and you don't know them you are a pervert! Let the coaches do their job and recruit! If you tweet recruits you are probably close to a NCAA violation. Just post positive on this board and let the people that are being paid to recruit do their job. It definitely is not your job.

Well if we want to fight fire with fire we DO need to have people assigned to finding stupid posts from Yancy and others and send it directly to recruits. That is what happened here. Black only even knew about this post because the Rebs have people whose job it is to find this kind of stuff and put it right in the face of the recruit being discussed.
