But The Redskins had become so ingrained into the casual football fan's mind, nobody ever gave it much thought until white virtue signalers decided to go woke and threaten bidnesses with boycots and law suits. Before that, there were no public protests or what not. Shouldn't go 'round trying to fix what ain't broke hiding under the false banner of oppression.
I definitely remember the name being discussed in the 90s, but no enough people really cared about what Indian/Native American activists thought until the 10s really.
It's definitely false that "nobody gave it much thought," just not as many decades ago as do now.
