Redskin, on the other hand was a slur used to literally demean and reduce their humanity based on skin color, obviously with the goal of making it easier to kill them.
good post and it has iron. Our cavalry back in the day used the term and you are correct as to the reason they used it. Back in the 50's, Dwight E formed "Operation Wet Back" to tackle the border. The last thing I would do if I met an Indian would be to call him a redskin. But The Redskins had become so ingrained into the casual football fan's mind, nobody ever gave it much thought until white virtue signalers decided to go woke and threaten bidnesses with boycots and law suits. Before that, there were no public protests or what not. Shouldn't go 'round trying to fix what ain't broke hiding under the false banner of oppression.
