Will Friend is probably the OC Pruitt hires. He's been better than Napier. Napier to WR coach. Or Co-OC's

I have no idea if there's a realistic possibility of keeping Grantham, but if so, that'd be awesome, especially paired with a Napier/Friend-led offense.

For all the hoopla about "Dan the Offensive Genius" we never were ranked all that high.
Mullen's offenses were up and down in his nine years at State. 2014 was obviously a high point (8th nationally in offensive S&P+ ranking), and 2015 was, overall, pretty good as well (top 20 nationally in offensive S&P+). But in numerous other years, the offense was pedestrian.
As for Napier, this year's ASU offense is a bit of mixed bag, but probably performed a little better than our 2017 offense in context. Higher S&P+ ranking (ASU's offense - 38, State's offense - 65), and better in-conference stats for scoring offense (ASU 4th, MSU 7th), 3rd Down Conversion rate (ASU 2nd, MSU 3rd), yards per play (ASU 7th, MSU 13th), and Red Zone TD% (ASU 2nd, MSU 8th). ASU's offensive line didn't play as well as ours (in either sacks allowed or TFLs allowed), though interestingly they dominated their conference in time of possession, just like MSU did.

No one knows if he's been better. No one knows if Colorado State's offense is his or Bobo's

It's not apples-to-apples, though. I'd like to see an analysis of the defenses that each team faced. I doubt ASU saw anything like the Georgia, Auburn, Alabama defensive gauntlet.

For Tennessee? or MSU? He or she didnt specify.

I would be perfectly happy if the next coach just goes about his business and doesn't prod ole miss. They don't need it and it only makes living with them harder than it already is.

I agree. We are above them and will get further above them in the coming years. We should just not even acknowledge them at all.

In hindsight maybe the shit Mullen started shouldn't have been. It was snarky. It was fun up until Hugh Freeze pushed Dan's shit in.
With the sanctions I'd just as soon treat them like any other game. Make them irrelevant.
-
Treating it like any other game is why they've had our number. We need to treat it like Bama and Auburn treat the Iron Bowl

Yeah, it's definitely hard to compare teams' stats when they're in different conferences. But that's why I used stats for conference games only, which should hopefully at least somewhat show how each offense performed against like-talented teams. So yeah, maybe ASU's offense wouldn't have been so good on third downs or in the red zone if it was facing SEC defenses. But that's not fair either, because ASU's offense is stocked with PAC 12 talent, not SEC talent.
I'm not saying that ASU's 2017 offense was a national juggernaut in comparison to MSU's, but only that in the context of their respective conferences, ASU's offense this year seems to have been a little better than MSU's.

It's a rivalry game and if you think they aren't still pissed and aren't gonna turn the Egg Bowl into a war ever year, you're mistaken. We have to bring intensity to that game and I want a coach that's gonna treat it like a rivlary game.
ETA After what I watched them do Thursday night, we better not *****foot around them.

I guess you're right. I probably do hold a grudge too long. It just kinda' pissed me off when I went to the State-Alabama game in '97 and they had Will Friend's picture on the front page of the program. They did it because they knew he had chosen them instead of us. BTW, I still hold a grudge against Dick Pace for his PI call in the '81 Egg Bowl. It's hard for me to forget things like that.
-
I agree with treating the game as if it is a war but Dan made a lot of unneccessary comments. When he made the comments, I knew they would become "ole miss X 10" in an effort to get rid of him. Just beat their asses down in the egg bowl and don't mention them in the press.
