Some of your questions you asked in a few of your post, pretty simple, poor decision makers in the athletic department, several sold our souls for a few dollars only! No visions, finally Carl Maddox did change a few things but he was old and pretty much was too late to do any good for Msu.

But we are way better off now days!

Templeton and his small minded and penny pinching nature kept us from really exploding as an athletic dept. Hell, thank god for President Zacharias or Templeton would've hired Bobby Wallace instead of Jackie.

He really was a plague on our athletic dept. He convinced everyone for so long that we were this poor school that had to pinch pennies, cut costs, and sell home games just to survive as an athletic dept.

Yep and no doubt. Hiring the right AD is very important, no wonder our history has been so bad, LOL!

While I was completing my third career teaching Middle School for 11 years there was a Sports Illustrated book in the HS library that had the history to date at that publishing of every major college football program. Not only were our "powers to be" making all these football decisions like playing Alabama or LSU 20 or so straight times on the road as we played them continually for about 75 plus years , look what OM did in their "glory years" under Vaught. They didn't even play Alabama as a regular season game in those years and you should see their OOC opponents. You could even have a SW Conference cupcake like opponent designated as one of your SEC games and only had to play about 5 or 6 SEC games a year. They also had Vandy as a regular all those years and beyond. We have a terrible history of those running our program since our success after the 1940"s. Heck, as a preteen and teenager, every year we finished every season with a Murderer's Row of bama, Auburn, LSU and OM and many of those games in Jackson. No wonder our history is what it is! "Yes Sir, May I Have Another?"

Terrible school location and then terrible school leadership doomed our programs for decades

One thing that has improved in our small town StarkVegas. It’s come a long ways. We just have to get better to good in leadership from all involved in MSU. Football is important and hopefully we surprise everyone. Now days rosters can change quickly with portal as we know. The so called blue blood might buy big bucks for 25 4 and 5 stars every year but not all 25 will graduate there with either portal or overrated and transferring.

Jackie said no more games in Jackson. We were about done there anyway- but there was a push to play at least 1 game there a year for the south Miss folks. Jackie ended that

It's probably been 8 years since I've been to Starkville. Earlier this year I had a jobsite visit near Starkville and stayed in town.

There's so much more to do and development everywhere contrasted with what it was like when I was there during the Croom years.

I have to think that the success Mullen had actually brought good attention to Starkville and made it a more inviting town.

All the more reason we really need to make an effort to be competitive in the SEC in football.

Still going to be hard to compete when we're a poor lower population state with 2 SEC schools.

I have repeated this ad nauseam ........I am old and remember when the ONLY club in STARK?VUHL? burned down....that?s how pathetic is was. As on old observer it is amazing how that other school has flipped the coverage from hateful racist school to where ?enlightened? people want to go. When you look at a game at the ?grove?.......the announcers almost have a sexual experience. The tv camera people focus on the most incredible striking coeds and milf?s under the fake chandeliers and cold chicken tinders and ham. While at Stark?vuhl? the cameras focus on the most overweight, unattractive or half dressed fat frat boys with painted bodies instead of the incredible food and cookers and striking people. You may find that great but it doesn?t fly with the Texas or Georgia money people. I?m sure I will get hate for this, but I?ve seen both game days and the ?DOGS? need the pirate the national coverage.....expand the footprint.....and change the national persona.....JMHO

You are also playing in a decent bowl for 8 wins, which is a top 10% year for us historically. But now 7 wins is pointless and we shouldn't even try.

But all we want to do is fight about going back to a silly logo from 30 years ago (that means nothing to anyone nationally) and who will be the starting mid week pitcher next year. Our fans will be the one that kills this program and school.
This is exactly the loser mentality you have a problem with. Set the bar at 9 and chase that, bowls do not matter anymore so go for the playoff. You think any respectable program in the country has to have this conversation every week on a message board.

And I promise no one knows the state script is us. ESPN has not even updated it on our broadcasts. So yea go with the better logo and start winning until people realize it is us. Worked with the banner M.

Most of it north of Meridian to Macon was on a dike going through the swamps. No room for swerving at all. You can still see the old bridges on parts south of Macon.

It WILL start with the Head Coach. The Powers that be HAVE to convince a Top Notch Coach to take on the project! Doesn't have to be Sabanesq! But definitely needs to be at or above Kiffin level! Start there. Drill into the Wealthy Alum including Professional athletes that their donations are not only needed but will get their Name on Buildings, Streets, Parade Fields, Parking lots, Message Boards, Score Boards, Private Suites, South End Zone Pavilions, etc....

We dont even claim 1940 as a National Championship. We dont even care to bring our old helmets back. This isn't serious business here.

Also what makes now harder, at least for me, was I have only been alive during our peaks.

Born in 88 I grew up becoming a fan when the Kang was rolling. West championship, 10-2 Peach Bowl win. Madkin, JJ Johnson, Dicenzo, Jerious, Moulds. Joe Lee Dunn defenses. We were legit during my coming of age years.

Then we hired Croom and sucks because we were on probation but ended up winning 7 and a bowl game in 2007.

Hired Mullen, 9 win seasons, Michigan, Dak, 2014, #1, stayed in top 25, 2017, Fitz. NFL talent everywhere.

Even 2018 had #1 defense and 3 first rounders. Stayed in top 25.

Won 9 with Leach although I knew we were declining and was the most boring and least exciting 9 win season ever.

So during my lifespan our program has been at its best. Reality is setting in I will never see a run again. Guess I have been lucky enough to grow up during the best era Miss. State will ever have.

It's like MSU is scared to promote itself in football. But sometimes the problem is the fans because let's say MSU has a top 15 recruiting class. We're immediately going to have fans who are going to be like "we're going to be embarrassed if they don't pan out."

Like we have fans that don't want to claim the 1940 NC because "it's embarrassing and it looks like something Ole Miss would do."

The helmet is really weird and I think that has more to do with LT than anything at least the root of it anyway. 15 out of the other 16 schools would just bring the logo back and be done with it.
