A 28 team model with all 10 conference champions would have games like USC - Utah, Houston - ND, BYU - Virginia, Michigan - Texsa, Miami - GT, JMU - Bama, Vandy - Arizona among others letting conference champions in like OU - Duke, Aggy - Boise, Ohio State - Wazzu, Oregon - WMU, Ole Miss - Kennesaw State in week 1. Then week 2 if you assume complete chalk - Indiana - Utah, Aggy - OU, Ohio State - ND, Tulane - BYU, Texas Tech - Texas, Oregon - Miami, Ole Miss - Alabama, Georgia - Vandy. (Tulane earns the 4th seed in my model that gives the top 4 conference champions the byes.)
Can't tell me that model wouldn't be thrilling football. Plus I didn't even have to tweak rankings to avoid any rematches in the first two rounds this year.
28 teams LOL holy crap
