Anybody know points allowed under Arnett

We just hired a proven SEC DC. Who owns acres of land around Starkville because he and his family loves the area.

We were turned down by others because our NIL is shit and they dont want to be a baller on a budget.

I do not have any respect for Arnett. If he apologizes publicly for what he did I might give him a chance but he's not man enough to do that.

And when I say apologize I mean he needs to apologize for what he did to Leach's staff and admit that hiring Barbay was wrong. He needs to apologize for lying to our players and their families. He needs to apologize for his foul language embarrassing MSU on TV during an interview.

May be true, but Lebby given 5 plays to redo, wins 7 games this past year with a defensive hand behind his back.

I see it often mentioned on this board how most coaches have a confidence/arrogance/bravado/whatever you want to call it about how they are going to succeed at the next level. It's why they take the job and it's part of what makes them successful at the current level. (See the Peter principle.)

You seem to be attributing willful harm by Arnett to State. I think his outcome could be explained by a multitude of things. I agree with basically everyone that he was in over his head. However, I think it's equally plausible that he was unaware of the practical aspects of being a head coach when he took the role and was simply not experienced enough for it. It's also equally plausible he believed he would have the intelligence/work ethic/etc to learn OTJ.

I would further add that not everyone succeeds on the first attempt but can learn the skills and succeed later. My favorite historical figure, Washington, had a disastrous turn as a soldier in the French and Indian War. More than a decade passes, and you know the rest.

I question his judgement for sure. Because depending on what side of the story you believe the boosters actually wanted him to keep the Air Raid, specifically a version thereof because no one runs it like Leach and no one runs any scheme exactly the same anyway but I digress or the veer and shoot which is on the Air Raid branch of things due to Art Briles coaching under Leach and taking some of the core ideas of the Air Raid to his offense which became the veer and shoot of course. But he still went in another direction and whenever he decided to do that whether it's because he couldn't hire someone off of the Air Raid tree or whatever the case was he should have communicated what he was doing and wanted to do. Everyone was going to figure it out at some point anyway. So, just come clean about it. And I wouldn't have liked the decision had he done it that way but I could have at least respected it.

Whether it was willfully done or not- I don't think he meant to hurt MSU. Probably didn't mean to hurt the players. But it's kind of like if I accidentally run over someone in my car. I didn't mean to run over them. But I did it. There has to be some consequences for that at some level. And in the case of Arnett he lied to the team, fans, parents, etc. and he lost he respect of the players and the team and he lost his job at MSU.

And it makes me wonder- this guy was OK backstabbing Leach's staff basically because they worked at a different time than his defensive staff. Could he do the same with Lebby? Absolutely. He has connections with boosters that hurt MSU. They may not be connected now, but does Arnett being back open the door for some of them again? It's not just the fact that he failed here. It's the risk that he could do more damage to the program. And why would Lebby and MSU open themselves up for that? We aren't even completely through the mess that Arnett made and we're welcoming him back and basically hoping it works and everything is fine all of a sudden?

And after all George Washington may have failed in the French and Indian War- but he was never without integrity. People with integrity I don't mind giving them second chances. People like Zach Arnett should not get that opportunity.
