    shapen vs corral

basically the same profile player. EXCEPT one dam near would break his ankles in half running, scrambling, while one is a 23 yr old refusing to run and self preservation. same arm strength, same build, awareness. in fact, they both played for lebby so he sees it frist hand. however, shapen refuses to run. you know that all off week they preached to him to run and he does it the first drive and we score vs UF. then abandons it for self preservation like we've seen all season.

that's why shapen is hero ball right now. there's no way he was NOT supposed to handoff to RB 22 and the 4th and 2 stuff in 1H. no way he runs up the middle there unless he calls his own hero ball number. same with wasted Timeout play on the last drive where he supposed to throw the wide open hitch instead runs up the middle for nothing and wastes our last timeout. shapen is too short to see over the middle so we've basically given up on the middle all season. shapen threw a pic over the middle vs USM, alcorn, multiple vs TN, and of course vs FL. kamario can throw outside hitces, deep crossers and deep balls just as well as shapen

Kamario needs to start immediately. Kamario never panicked. not once this season. he glides, and is comfortable. he's been here on campus 11 months. it's time. hell the true freshman at PITT benched the former alabama qb and guess what. pitt is 3-0 with the true freshman qb. same with nico at ucla where new OC forces nico to run 12+ times a game and guess what 3-0. kamario is ready. play him.

I don't know about starting, but KT should get a series at least every game. If Lebby is as good as advertised, he can get KT some 1 read passes. If it isn't there, run. Start getting him ready

I do not have a problem giving him a series here and there. And if he has a hot hand maybe give him the next one. But right now, Shapen still gives you the best chance to win. I mean hell I am more pissed at Shapen than anyone because the 17’er ruined a ML parlay that would have won me 3K yesterday. But he still threw for over 300 yds and did make some good throws and good plays. I know for an absolute fact that Kamario could not have made the 4th and 16 pass to Thompson when we were down 9. He would have hit Sunbelt Billy with the ball. Shapen is what he is, a more mobile and stronger arm version of Will Rogers without the intelligence of Will. That can win you 2 more games. Yesterday sucked, but the season is not over and we are not making a QB change. If that is going to cause people to jump off the boat then I hate to see it, but you were looking for reasons to do it and were not bought in.

Then you played the guy that gave you the best chance. Kamario does not. It will go poorly and end with him being benched and transferring. Let him sit, let him learn, and bring him in situationally where he can succeed and gain confidence.

If Shapen is the only playable qb we have, and he's costing us games, what does this say about our qb evaluations

Ha?good point. Of course we?re working with a shoestring budget so probably all we could get for a ham sandwich.

That room was cleared out when Arnett ran off Robertson and Locke and then we added Mike Wright and Parson who were both busts. It had to be rebuilt again when Lebby got here. KT has the highest ceiling of any QB we have had since Dak but like Dak he has to be developed and that takes time. This isn't NCAA 26 where you just throw in whatever player and they're advanced football IQ wise.

That's true. And that's the same amount of time it took Dak to be ready.

You're not wrong. That is my worry. Because everything I've heard is that he's behind of where they want him to be in terms of the playbook. This was my concern because he's coming from, as C34 has stated numerous times, a very simplistic play calling system. He's going from Doubles Orange 93 to Green Left Twin Nasty 382 X Stick Lookie Kill 124 Hop X Curl H Sneak. Obviously not our exact play calls but you get the gist of it. And that's just the terminology portion. There's learning how to operate in the system as well, which he's also having trouble with.

The coaches are working A TON with him so it's not just throwing their hands up. But I wouldn't be shocked if we pursued a transfer QB in the portal.

And look, this has nothing to do with his ability. He's probably the most physically gifted QB we've ever had, but he's not perfect. There's issues with him.

But we can use him in simple plays and be effective. Teebow came in slowly as well.

And that's what we're doing. I think I posted either last week or the week before that Tebow played between 8-11 plays his true freshman year and it was a lot of runs. We are doing the exact same thing with Kamario. We're getting his feet wet and getting him game action, but not overloading him.

Thanks for posting this. A lot of us are capable of reading between the lines. The lack of plays he's gotten coupled with the simplicity of the play calls, has made me have concern that it might take a couple of years. Then you gotta hope we can keep him.
I fully expect to see a transfer QB starting next year. Might even be Kris-Hawk. (Although I don't know a thing about him).

What we do in the Winter portal will tell you how they feel about Kromenhoek. I don't know the answer to that. I think there's things they like about him, he's faster than Kamario, but he's a lot like Nick Fitzgerald. He's very run first.

shapen does not give us the best chance to win, certainly not an SEC game, and you certianly can't say that based on any evidence we've seen in actual games. being specific, 8 of the first 10 offensive scripted plays were run plays and shapen missed the reads on at least 4 of them. so shapen is only capable of running 8 of 10 running plays even when a 5th year senior misses the run read at least 4 times? of course not. kamario is ready now and probably has us up 21-0 after those 10 plays especially if he got the #1 reps in practice. a good coach knows how to adjust to his strengths. shapen throws comeback hitches due to big cushions, deep crossers (if not sacked) and intermittent deep ball completions. kamario can certainly do that. I do agree that both will rogers and shapen have play with a high level of self preservation. shapen just left 200+ yds on the field, lost to a bunch of true fr dbs, and a lame duck coach so there's no way that he's our best chance to win.

Ok. Go watch all of KT's drives this year and tell me how many missed reads he has had this year. Shapen in the meantime has helped Baylor win a Big 12 championship as a freshman and he best Arizona State this year. What has KT done? Beat Winona HS?
