We can act like winning matters more now, but we're lying to ourselves if we do. Winning is all that has ever and should ever matter. You're not measured by how many people are on the Dean's List as a HC, you're measured by Ws and Ls. A coach has never been fired because a kid got a 0.4 GPA, because those can be fixed. Ask Jackie. But coaches are fired all the times because they have too few Ws and too many Ls.
    True!

So is he still at practice each day or was it a 1 day thing? Any chance we see him with a headset or on the sidelines?

I can unequivocally guarantee you will not see him with a headset on the sidelines. He's in Starkville a good bit, since his daughter lives there, but he will not be on staff in any official capacity. He was at half the games last year and I'd expect him at around the same this year.

ah that sucks. I like Lebby but you don't know what you don't know and Art could help tremendously there

There ways he can help without being at practice everyday. He could have practice film access to watch what is going on everyday and give Lebby his thoughts on what he sees. Teams have drones filming practice and shit now. Everything is captured

Totally agree... I'm on record saying pay the man. Screw the virtue signaling
OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) - Ole Miss campus police ask students to behave at future baseball games following a recent incident.
The university said students were reportedly throwing rocks at Georgia baseball players during last weekend's series.

Winning matters is like saying oxygen matters. Sacrificing moral integrity in an attempt to win is a separate issue.

Make him OC immediately. Reading the article it sounds like the school didn’t handle some of the allegations correctly. It also sounds like they got caught in the #metoo virtue signaling movement and lawsuit payout era. There’s a lot of allegations there with no charges, dismissed charges, and women so angry about what happened that they will happily take money from the university…

I feel confident, with 12 National Championships, there have been Alabama fans that probably offered to sell their mother's kidneys if it meant winning!

Based on our football history, I also surmise Mississippi State has chosen to take the moral integrity route more than most college football teams with the exception of maybe Rice, Vandy and Kansas.

I think sacrificing moral integrity to win is what everyone does. In most cases, it only matters when it doesn’t work any longer. It’s just about how much you’re willing to sacrifice.

Bear Bryant was far from who Alabama fans make him out to be.

Well, the thing about it this. It's Lebby's family that he married into. How many of us have had family members go to jail for something and then they get out later. Does that mean that they never get to be involved with their family ever again? No.

It's another ridiculous media double standard.

I just wish for once that pro athletes could comb through journalist's personal lives and then air their dirty laundry for all the world to see while taking away their journalism awards.

And we have fans complaining about MSU not giving fans enough access. Well, stuff like this is why teams like MSU don't just give the media carte blance media access.

No one is perfect. I remember Joe Paterno talking about he didn't want to leave college football to the Jackie Sherrill's of the world. In the meantime, while Jackie was appearing at hospitals dressed as a clown to entertain sick children on his own time Joe Paterno was covering up one of the biggest scandals while his DC was molesting children. I think we all should be thankful that the college football world wasn't left to the Joe Paterno's out there.

I know this for pretty much a guarantee, Art gets all our film and studies it through the week. He's helping Lebby out a lot behind the scenes, he was actually the one that told Jeff last year that establishing the run and mixing in deep shots was the recipe for last year. It's a little bit how Hugh Freeze was helping Kirby and UGA out in the 17 and 18 seasons. It's nothing official but I'm fairly certain he has an iPad with all the cut-ups on it just like the players do.

Great point. Lots of gray area here... but I don't expect Briles to help us make some significant leap vs the rest of the SEC. If we had sold our souls to acquire Cam Newton, I get it. Not for this one though.

If art could do anything close to what he did at Baylor with MSU, he should be our head coach right now.

I?m fine if he wants to mentor Lebby though. That would be the next best thing.

Having Briles helps but at the same time I think Lebby is a pretty darn good offensive coach himself.

It shouldn't have taken Art Briles to figure that out. All I needed to see was MVB attempt to throw a slant to figure it out.

I'm not so sure why our fans were so impressed with MVB. His instincts were really, really bad. He's a major project and maybe he figures it out at LSU but he needed to redshirt.

Or keep him where he is and it's a win win. Right now no one is trying to poach him, he's working for free and we don't have to deal with espn blasting us like we know they will with all their ole miss alumni
