I remember before 82 was 4 lane all the way and you had to take 182 right after Mathiston and be on that two lane road for like the last 15 miles and that was a pain in the butt. I can't imagine 45 being 2 lane all the way.
Most of it north of Meridian to Macon was on a dike going through the swamps. No room for swerving at all. You can still see the old bridges on parts south of Macon.
