Any chance we're on Watkins from FSU, Wood Harris i mean Tre Holloman from otherMSU, Mackenzie Mgabko from Indiana, Jaron Pierre from Jax State?
Yes this is pie in the sky and unrealistic, but those 4 + Murphy would make us a top 10 maybe top 5 team.

I?m not sourcing it here because I don?t feel comfortable doing that but we offered him 7 figures to stay.

Man, would we be able to get more help if we pay that?

Glad we won a NC in baseball but it is a regional college sport just like college hockey in the North and East. How many on the board can tell me who won the last couple of NCAA hockey championships? Few fans outside the South can name baseball champs. Last time I checked, top college revenue by sport was football (far and away), MBB (makes $), hockey (don't now if it finishes in the black), and fourth baseball (doubt very few programs finish in the black). Football wags all the other college sports $ wise.

Y'all just don't get it! It ain't about the money for those of us who like baseball Mississippi State Style. It's about the winning! And State has done most of her winning in Baseball! And Javelin chunking!

That is correct. Or at least the opening offer was close to 7 figures so I feel like before he went to the portal 7 figures would have been the offer. The rumor is Bama pushed him in. I mean maybe they think he can be a Grant Nelson replacement but I really don't see it. Murphy just does not fit the type of player Oats has been recruiting at Bama

But that money you don't care about will dry up if we only start caring about non revenue sports. So all the stuff baseball gets because we have money from football goes with it. Football pays for everything else on campus, including baseball, and if you suck at football and get relegated to the sun belt in the next realignment then all this money we have for baseball and how we are a top spender go away. We'll be picking between the Oak Hill SS and the Central Hinds 2B on who we give our last scholarship to. Not knocking either of those schools but that's who you'll be recruiting. And they'll be coached by either someone who volunteers to be the coach or someone you are paying 75K-150K to. You have to have money to enjoy that winning you like. Therefore, you have to support football and men's basketball first and foremost. It's weird that no other big time program has this issue. They all support football and most support men's basketball. So why is it that there is such a divide in our fanbase over embracing what actually makes money?

If Murphy wants to make the NBA he has to be able to knock down 3s. If that's his motivation and the money difference is negligible then why wouldn't you go play for Bama instead of us.

I seen something that said Oats is linked to a NBA job.

He'll probably get an interview request this cycle. There's been rumors in the last few weeks that he's unhappy with the NIL situation at Bama. I think he'd be down any list of coaches for a franchise though. I really don't know why college coaches ever think going to the NBA will work out for them. There's really only ever been 2, Larry Brown and Brad Stevens. Billy Donovan looks ok just because he's stayed so long. NIL doesn't change the fact that college coaches will still struggle to coach in the NBA.

Never said I don't "care" about then money. I'm saying you don't take money from Baseball and other so called minor sports to prop up football so thst thst football program can continue to be everybody else's whipping boy in this conference so y'all can puff your chest out and say "WE ARE PART OF THE ALL MIGHTY SEC" while being said whipping boy! We spend more on football than all other sports combined! I'm saying don't destroy other sports that "most" MSU fans also like and enjoy watching to move from 15th to 13th in Football! Spend enough to be competitive in football and basketball without PISSING on baseball because it isn't a so-called money maker!
You are welcome to donate as much to football as you want. Sane for basketball. But a lot of fans aren't going to take the money they give to baseball and move it over to football and basketball. And for some fans on here to keep trying to piss on baseball and push those fans to move their money all in on football and basketball when they don't get the same rewards baseball has given them (STATE FANS not Penn State fans or Midwest and northeast schools) it is asinine and I will keep pushing back. We are NEVER going to win in football as long as we play in the same conference as Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, LSU, A&M, Auburn, Oklahoma, et. al, regardless if we spend ALL athletics funding on it and shut down every other men's program except basketball! So just STOP with the Baseball HATE!

Oh yeah. For the ones who keep pointing out no one around the country remembers who won the college World Series over the last 5 years, probably 90% of sports fans can't tell you who was the Football or basketball champs over the last 10 years without googling it. I love football and basketball! I love all MSU athletics equally!
I sure can't tell you who the D1 Champs were every year for the past 10 years in football or basketball without looking it up! Nor the NBA, NFL, MLB, or the NHL champs over the past 6 years. But there are some on here who can tell you who the last 5 European Soccer Champs were! Talk about useless knowledge!

So you are fine then with us being left out of the next realignment and being in the AAC just so we can have an average baseball team which will then lose when they play an SEC team in the regional? Because that is exactly what is going to happen until our fans get their heads out of the sand. Not only will it be a blow to our athletic department, but also our funding for academics and other aspects.

We are not going to get left out of anything. The next realignment will still need easy wins for the Big Boys in football. Nobody is kicking Cleveland out of the NFL- they play a role

Exactly! I want football to be good SO baseball can have the money to be good. That's the only way this formula can work.

It's more real than you think. Why do they need us? They already have Kentucky, Vandy, USCe, and Arky for that. Those schools bring something to the table besides baseball attendance records.
