It's stupid but I'm not sure selfish is accurate. Didn't Jake Mangum mess up his hand punching the dugout wall? I don't think selfish could be used to describe him as a player or teammate.

Cannizarro and Rooker almost strangled him in the dugout. It was stupid when he did and it was stupid if Van Buren did it as well. However, I do agree on it not being selfish. I don't think the kid went to the bench and was like "F this. We suck and I'm going to break my hand on this bench". Was it immature? Yes. Do I want a guy who is supposed to be the face of my program going forward doing something stupid that could take him out of the next game? Absolutely not. But do I think he did it intentionally and with malice? No.

Ah, I guess the state media was just protecting him. Just the quick google showed a few articles referencing him breaking his hand sliding into third so I was worried that was what actually happened. Glad my mind isn't completely gone.
