Saying Hines and Jordan are taking ?selfish? at bats is stupid. Nobody wants to strikeout every time. They are just in huge slumps, and I believe they will get out of it.

Can we trot out our .190 hitting catcher every game? This team is dead in the water come regionals. You can see it on their faces. We've got 4 guys hitting and the rest looking like a monkey 17ing a football at the time of year they should be smashing. We've run out of Alcorns and UNAs.

Selfish from the standpoint of not changing your approach. Hines tries to pull every pitch and DJ is trying to hit every ball 550 ft. And they haven't made any adjustments to do anything different. So yeah they're being selfish

They aren't recognizing pitches at all. Both are trying to lift everything too. Jordans head is flying and everything is going with it. Lots of guys on this team simply can't identify pitches and are guessing.

I want Gautreau to do his ****ing job and tell them to stop trying to be the hero every time and stop overswinging at every thing instead of just sitting his ass there in the dugout and let our players figure everything out on their own.

And if he is telling them that and they aren't listening then that's not good either.

This has been going on literally almost all year!
You're acting like he's going to change Jordan's approach in one AB. Jordan has had the same approach his entire life and it got him to this point. No matter what a coach says he's not going to change it. You can see Gautreau talking to him before every AB and it's just going in one ear and out the other.

Agree. It’s not so much DJ as it is pitchers have him figured out. He’s any easy out for them.

I'm not worried about what's already happened, I'm looking at how we're playing. Pitching has been good but hitting has been trash late in the season. Can't win if you can't score. Our .190 hitting catcher hasn't thrown out a damn soul either. It's damn ridiculous at this point.

I think we are watching different games then. Long may have saved the game against Ole Miss, he had some elite blocks behind the plate. When you are winning games 2-1 plays like those make the difference. Yes he is horrible at batting but he plays for a reason.

Didn?t they say last night that he?s 3rd in the league at saving runs behind the plate? He?s only playing because highfill is hurt. Lemonis is trying to convert chicken shit into less smelly chicken shit

It really doesn't matter who we play behind the plate. Powell is a better hitter and seems to be better behind the plate in regards to the run game. However, if the pitchers prefer Long, we'll need to keep running him out there. Our pitching has been elite this tournament. Bullpen has been absolutely lights out. Hell even Gavin Black settled in and gave us a good inning last night. And then Schuelke gave us his best outing in 2 months.

Somehow we have ironically scored more runs with Long in the lineup.

The coaches should tell DJ to BUNT until he gets a hit. If he refuses, remove him from the game.
