We are slightly ahead of where I expected as far as running an offense and worse than I thought we?d be shooting (I just thought at this level even bad shooters would hit wide open shots at a better clip than we do). We are well ahead of what I expected defensively. I was hoping we?d be more consistent bringing effort. Had no clue we had that much room to improve on top of playing g hard consistently.

Tolu just looked lazy shooting the ball today. He left a LOT of points on the floor today simply by putting up lazy lay up attempts instead of just going up strong. He needed to be more aggressive. He missed a lot of pretty easy chances today.

Some of y?all ma be too young to remember some of our seasons going into the Egg Bowl at 3-7(back when we only played 11 games) and people describing State as the Best 3-7 team in the country because we had played LSU, Auburn, and Alabama the 3 previous games to the Egg Bowl and held our own. So the description of the Best 3-7 team in the country was used to describe State.
Well, there can also be a reverse of that description in Sports. Is it possible to be the Worst 11-0 Basketball team in the country? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

It'll be interesting to see how our rankings change this upcoming week. The last two games have been against supposedly weak teams, but we almost lost both of them (beat Jackson State by 10 but the game was a lot closer than that).
I suspect we'll either stay the same or improve a spot or two. We almost lost those two games, but we didn't.

Nicholls has alot of transfers and they are gelling as well. They only lost by 7 @Texas Tech a couple of games ago and had won their last 2 games. Very veteran team. Picked to compete for their conference title.
While we would hope to win the game by 10-15 points- today was still a solid win. We struggle some offensively but we also played without one of our best Guards today. Not having Moore hurt...especially at the end of the game as we saw

Line was 21.5.
It's ok to appreciate the season as a whole, and at the same time call this week BS. JSU and today's games are crap, and we need to treat every game like it's a tourney game

We play like we did today and Wednesday night vs any sec team, and we'd lose. It wasn't an sec team though, but we have to treat every game like it's a must win... we aren't good enough to overlook teams

We werent expected to be very good or have a chance to make the NCAA Tourney this year. Jan is 11-0 and our team plays hard. Total success so far.
If we go 4-14 in SEC play then I'll be pissed. But this team plays hard which is what we demand. Hopefully we get to the point we make more shots consistently.

I literally just said I appreciate the season as a whole. You think Jans is happy with this week? I don't

Our outside shooting really concerns me. Most of the teams in the SEC I think we can feed Tolu down low and win. However, they will double down on him and force us to make longer shots. I haven't seen another SEC team that we shoot outside better. I think this year, if we can just get to the Dance, we've done a great job. I'm hoping for a 10-8 SEC worksheet and 9-9 at worst. Ole Miss is a much better outside shooting team than us, and they, IMO, have a potential NBA future player....then on the other hand, Ole Miss cannot match up against Tolu either. Really gonna be an interesting season to see how we finish up. Lot of close games forecasted. And that's where our crowd will be needed to go nutso! If we have to, just open up the entire upper concourse for free to the public for all future OOC games. The city of Starkville alone should able to at least put 5k in the joint.

Our metrics are beginning to regress to the mean, fortunately we?re still undefeated. The Drake game is huge. It?s a Q2 nonconference opportunity before we start an absolute gauntlet where we?ll be lucky to win 4 games in January. If we go into February with 16 wins I feel pretty confident we?ll make the tournament, anything less and we?re gonna have work to do in the SEC tournament in my opinion.
And I agree with 34, we?re ahead of schedule and had no prognostication of sniffing the tournament so all of this talk of regression isn?t negativity it?s just what people thought we would be. They just didn?t think we?d have a 11-0 cushion to play with.

No but he knows he cant shoot it for them. He has to be happy with their hustle and defense. We are who we are

I can tell you guys from experience, the last two games we looked to have tired legs, 4 games in 9 days plays on basketball players. I read where Jans said the same thing. It affects your shooting as well, and yes we have been inconsistent in shooting, but we had showed some improvement till the Jsu game.

That might explain why our defense, after the first 10 minutes of the game, looked the worst it has all year.
