Dont forget, Cohen while fairly successful during his tenure was also met with some of the same critiques as Joe during his time as a coach at MSU. He does not have the same regard for the fanbase that you would expect

Honestly, any other AD in the country would have probably fired him after that show he gave Thurs combined with everything else but apparently their personal relationship is what is getting in the way of any change being made. Cohen going to bat for his guy is what it boils down to.
Ok just now seeing this. This makes more sense to me now.

We have the Boosters wanting him gone ,the fans hate him, revenue will be down, we have the Seal money, and Joe just flipped the bird to us all.
The only explanation I see for him being here is that either A) Cohen really is going ot bat for Joe based on their personal friendship, or 2) the VS's want him to stay and Cohen is loyal to them and so is doing their bidding.
But it definitely sounds like money isn't the problem
EDIT or maybe money is the problem. It definitely seems like Cohen might be willing to change his mind, given the only "statement" has been Rosey and Paul saying he's staying. But that means nothing and if it was final you'd think Cohen would put it out there more firmly
Are we 100% we aren't still playing chicken over the buyout, or trying to get another program to hire him away so we pay no buyout?

Nothing about this adds up. Like Shotgun said last night, we didn’t even put Joe in the postgame video. That was a weird move.

I don't think we are good for the money. I honestly don't believe our resources are willing to pony up what it takes. We ar clearly missing something here.
There's too much he said this and source said this. Nothing concrete. Just conjecture and supposition. To me, there's no way Cohen allows crap to go down like it has and look like he's getting steamrolled. He's not the Intense Bastard because he gets rolled over. It's because he's got a little ass to him.
This situation seems out of his control. It's not his style for us to be grapevining all this crap with zero concrete evidence to pull from. He's been active on Twitter today too. So something must be going on where he's having to let some things play out.
Yes he has. And his Twitter has been lit up. He is very aware.

If Joe and Cohen are good friends that makes sense to me. But the boosters are going to have to step up to stop this.
It’s probably going to take the cigar boys telling Cohen it’s either Joe or both of you. Make your choice.

Dude ... Cohen's his boss. You in love with Joe or something. Do you have a boss. My boss can walk in my office any damn time he pleases, like most people who have bosses.

Cohen better watch out, because when Joe gets his ass whipped a month from now in a bowl game, it will be Cohen getting all of this fury instead of his boi.
Everybody knows he's not going to magically start being successful all of the sudden. Cohen is literally putting his own ass on the line over something that's going to happen next year either way.

They are essentially the Thelma And Louise of the Mississippi State's athletic department at this point

I thought all the talk before some of this new stuff came out recently was that this decision was above Cohen and he wouldn’t be making this decision but now Cohen is keeping this from happening? (Apologize if I’m butchering that and it’s not true. This has been a shit storm to keep up with). I thought this was ultimately going to come down to Keenum and the boosters with the power but now it’s Cohen being big buds with Joe and going to bat for him that’s keeping this from getting done? Again, if I got that wrong, correct me because I’m trying to understand it. I’m not a seasoned vet keeping up with this stuff and knowing how this works.

So he’s subverting the program and too stingy to spend the money, while letting personal relationships dictate his motives, not the good of the organization as a whole?

Remember when a 6-6 MSU team beat the tee total shit outta 8-4 Rice in Liberty Bowl. Had a tough season, ended with a great EB win. We thought Rice would give us a game. We blew their doors off. Okay, the exact opposite will happen this time. We will face a mediocre bowl eligible team that will give us a tough close game that they shouldn't b/c of our talent level.

Clarify this: Why the **** does Cohen have any say in the matter? Why isn’t he standing in the hallway while Kennum and the angry people with names on buildings determine next steps?

It's hard to follow for ALL of us. I thought I had it basically figured out until this current set of leaks. Now I'm struggling to figure out exactly what's happening. Cluster17 is the most apt description imaginable at this point.
It's the roller coaster of hope that this program keeps us on that makes it hell being a State fan. - CadaverDawg, 10/15/22

You're not understanding it's quite simple:
The boosters that got Cohen hired support JoMo so Cohen is doing their biding and refusing to fire JoMo. Also, we don't have the money for the buyout. Also, all the boosters are united against Joe but we don't have the money. Also all the boosters are unite against Joe and we do have the money but Cohen won't do it. Also, Keenum is both for and against Joe and is putting his weight into this. He's also staying out of it. He's a big problem and one of the good guys, is the gist of it. But of course, were still firing Joe and all is well, we're just letting things "play out" for a bit to get the buyout down. Not that that's needed because Rutgers will hire him. That rumor is supported by the fact Joe's for sure going to be here next year and it's all settled. But it's not settled, because many former alumni have been angered when they heard it was settled and are now contacting Cohen, who does and doesn't want to fire Joe but does and doesn't have the money to do so and does and doesn't have to play politics with the booster division which exists unless it doesn't.
Try to keep up, it's really not that complicated
