Let's say he's conditioning on his own one day after school gets out at the end of May and boom. Plants his foot wrong and he tears his ACL. If he's committed to MSU he INSTANTLY gets the full benefit of our medical staff and a backup plan in case his draft stock falls because of an injury that would keep him out of baseball for a year. If he commits nowhere, he's out of pocket for his medical expenses, OR he has to wait to get his surgery done until an MLB team drafts him and gives him access to their medical teams.

There is definitely a reason to sign, and that's just in case something crazy happens. I don't understand why people think it's bad for him to sign. Give me one reason he wouldn't sign. There's zero tying him to the university he signs with. Nothing.
