We have only allowed 7 SB's in SEC play which puts us tied for 2nd in the conference. We have only allowed 38 all season.
Also- part of the reason the pitching has improved is because the catching is better.
Catching seems to be doing ok.

LOL. So he Catches like Tarzan, Hits like Jane!
I think Cjintge was getting a bit upset with Long Duc Dong today with his inability to throw the ball back within 3 feet of him. But I'm sure he has been throwing out runners in practice left and right all season Long III. No pun intended. After that bunt foul off his legacy jewels today, he was probably spitting up blood so I certainly feel bad for the guy. He just ain't SEC quality. Or Gulf South quality for that matter.
Powell has thrown out 6 of 17, Long hasn't thrown out any of 14. I'll take Powell. Long has 9 PB to 1 for Powell but he's played more games. Powell is 100% the best option at C. Long is a backup but will Lemonis make the change when we get healthy. Probably not because that's why people question him.
Incorrect
Powell has allowed 16 steals and thrown out 6. Powell is tied for 10th in the SEC in steals allowed catching once per weekend
In almost twice as many games- Long has allowed 15 steals.

Long is the backbone of the team and its catcher. We will win or lose with Long back there
I can promise you- Lemon/Parker arent forcing Long on the pitchers. They tell the coaches who they want catching them. Shit- Greg Maddux kept Eddie Perez in MLB for years because he was his guy.
Absolutely. And it also shows teams run less when Long is behind the dish.
What I think you guys are missing is that our ERA with pitchers is probably a run lower or more with Long behind the plate. That trumps going with the offensive catcher. I wish I could find that somewhere instead of having to go thru every boxscore and doing it myself. You can bet our staff knows those numbers
Jesus man, if it?s lower it?s because he catches our 1 and 2. The guy sucks. I don?t give a shit what the pitchers like or the coaches. He sucks. He wouldn?t start at JCJC. Pile on that he?s a complete douche, pack your shit. And I don?t mind douches if they back it up. He couldn?t back up church league softball. He is the worst starting catcher msu has ever had, and it ain?t close. I?d be ok with him being the second catcher with what we currently have, but if highfill was healthy and that dude caught anything but bullpen and herpes, I?d take Lemonis boot and make him walk from wherever it happened.
You're my boy- but you're wrong.
He steals borderline pitches constantly.
He signals the pitchers on various things and they love it
Teams dont run on him
And he is "our" ********** other teams hate
If the pitchers wanted Powell- Powell would be catching. Thats as plain as I can say it. Shit- I told my coaches that shit in Legion ball. I wanted my catcher
I don’t recall Long costing us a game with his catching. I do remember getting a walk off passed ball when Highfill was catching at Auburn last year.
Fine, have your cheerleader. I blame Lemonis then for having the worst catcher to ever start for msu. And the fact that he is our ?alpha?, what I?ve said before, is pathetic.
And I totally agree about ?he?s our douche?, if he was worth a shit. I love having players that everyone else hates, unless they were on their team. David Stewart was voted the dirtiest player in the league and everyone hated him, until they were his teammate. Oh I love that shit. Literally the only thing that stands out for his ?highlights? are douchery.
You think he starts for any other sec team? It?s weird the hills you?ve chosen in the last 6 months. You didn?t like will as qb, I didn?t either, but he was light years ahead of long.
Anyway, my opinions aren?t worth a penny so I?ll move on.
Need to hit the portal early for a top collegiate catcher. Highfill has missed his critical Sophomore season and if he can't play in the summer, thats a big loss. Let's gets someone's top catcher. The dream signing is Stanfords Malcom Moore, a Golden Spikes guy.
Perfect timing to get Moore, his stats are down, playing for a bad Stanford 2024 team, but he probably wants to play himself into a high 1st round draft pick position. Play in the SEC and for a big program that has an open job.
Hell yeah he would.
Guscette at UA has 45 attempts and 33 steals on him
Messina at SC has 40 and 31
Gonzalez at Georgia has 39 attempts with 33 steals
Those schools would beg for Long- I dont understand what bubble you guys are in that keeps you from seeing the shitty players on other SEC teams?
Good- solid hitting line-up for tonight
