I wish the NCAA had subpoena power to confiscate their devices. I'd bet there would be a ton of hammering and bleaching going on in Oxford.

From the clarion-ledger..
https://www.clarionledger.com/story/...ies/806787002/
"Bjork confirmed to the Clarion Ledger that Ole Miss recently submitted a self-report to the SEC that exposed a group of fans improperly contacting recruits through Twitter. The NCAA has rules against fans and boosters promoting their school to recruits in any way through social media. In addition, this particular violation involved “direct” and “deliberate” contact, Bjork said. According to Bjork, the incident occurred this winter. He described Ole Miss' response as “standard reporting” of a level 3 violation (the lowest on the scale)."
The article says they reported to the SEC.....not the NCAA?

Yes. They are self reporting (which is required for a Level 3) but doesn’t mean that the enforcement staff doesn’t change it to a higher violation during the investigation. Doesn’t mean they will either.

If you are already on probation this ain't no level 3.
C'mon NCAA do your damn job!
That's kind of where I am at on it.

I think that is the proper protocol.

Bjork said it happened "last winter" as I recall from reading. Is it possible that it happened before the punishment was handed down (I don't remember when they got the "bad" news)? And if it did, would it still be a repeat offense, since they didn't know for sure that they would receive any punishment?

It happened after the slap on the wrist.

Now just because they self reported it as a Level 3 doesn?t mean the enforcement staff doesn?t reclassify it later during the investigation but if you want to look at Level 3 & 4?s as minor and Level 1 & 2?s as major that would be apportiate for discussions just not official classifications
Lets also add that they have been called on the carpet for Rogue Boosters being "out of control" and the administration not being able to control them..... hum.... Rogue Boosters are still OUT OF CONTROL.....
It's been a year since Freezeus resigned.... hum...

I can't believe y'all are going to do this to yourselves again... 15 level one violations, players admitting to taking cash on tv, coaches with hookers, text messages from boosters offering incentives... and they got a freaking slap on the wrist! And for the 3-4 of you out there that thinks they got hammered, save it, it just makes you look like a moron. I'll bet you all my v-cash + some real cash that NOTHING happens from this.
ETA... and Mimi, and all her conspiracies, has returned.

It's being told that the main culprits were 14/15-year olds, but I think the one adult is a notorious shart booster with the initials TR. Some of you are probably very familiar.

I've never really understood how a school can be expected to control what fans do without their knowledge. Literally everybody has two or three computers at home now with access to social media and fan forums, they have a smart phone ... it can't be policed. Sure, if they're "caught", they can be dissociated but that doesn't really do much good.

If anyone thinks tsun would "self report" dick squat unless there was a high probability it would be uncovered by others later, then you are indeed touched, need to seek help and don't know the definition of "Covering one's Ass" .

14 year olds? considering it's tsun, maybe there's a pedo aspect to all this as well?
