Super Regional - Game 2 - Pilkington
Wow, what a night.
I just have a suspicion that Pilk will be ON tonight. He's not been sharp for a while now, the draft is done, and he's pitching with a lead (by us being up a game).
Something tells me we are going to see him mow Vandy down, and our bats will remain white hot. Enjoy this one guys, I really believe we end it tonight (well, may be tomorrow morning due to the start time...thanks NCAA!)
Let's get this win and take this show to Omaha.
-
I also have a feeling Pilk will bring it tonight. Give us a good 6 innings and let Neff and Self finish it out.
-
Who will Vandy throw today? They threw Zach King last week in game 2

I've been looking around, I can't see where they've named one right now (8:10 CDT)

I really hope you are right but I've been more concerned that his problem is more arm fatigue than it has been mental. Guess we will see how he does. Reason I'm thinking that is because his velocity has been down some over the past month. We need him to come up big tonight with Omaha on the line.

Well Pilk gets an extra day of rest moving to Saturday. That may help.
But I think the change in situation is going to be the biggest difference. He's always leading off. First guy on the mound. This time he's pitching to send us to a super regional. Different perspective means different mental appproach. I'm hoping that will propel him to a solid game.

So they threw their Number 1 and 2 starters last night? Not a smart move imo. So Pilk will be going up against their third starter? I like our odds.

Who do you think we go to after Pilk? Gordon and France both threw over 35, might need to wait till Monday. Self can close it out, but who fills the gap?

You mean pitching to send us to Omaha.
. And I’ll make a guess we will have 2K plus fans at the game tonight easy and out number the Vandy fans. Could you imagine how big the crowd would be at DNF?

We could go a number of ways. Neff, James, and Smith come to mind. I think we’ll be okay.

I think there is some truth here. I think they wanted Pilk to have an extra day of rest. He will be a little fresher.

Pilk, James, Self.
Pilk, I'm thinking will give at least 6 good innings, let James set the table for Self to close it out in the 9th.

It's all on Pilk. If he can go 7, we can turn to Self for the last 6 outs. He's other start vs Vandy this year, he went 6 innings and only gave up 2 earned runs. Threw 92 pitches. I would take that all day.
K. James threw 3 innings vs Vandy and only gave up 1 run.

They’ve gone Fellows-Raby-Hickmann all year, so I assume that’s what they’ll do here.

Per xenomorph on sps about Raby...
"The guy has barely pitched lately:
May 18th, 2nd game against UK.. 2 ip, 3 hits, 1 er
June 2nd, in relief against Clemson.. 1.2 ip, 0 hits, 0 er
Is he hurt?"
Raby didn't start game 2 vs Clemson in regional last week.

Interesting. I can’t imagine he’s hurt or they wouldn’t be throwing him at all. He’s been their most effective starter. No clue what’s going on.

They haven’t used that rotation since they have been on their hot streak.

They used it in every SEC series that I found, including the last one.
By the way: found a Vandy message board, and while I didn’t find an answer on who pitches, I did find that even their own fans hate the whistling.

You got that info off their board, but not Raby news? Lol
