To me, criticizing fans for hindsight is reasonable only when a coach makes a REASONABLE move or decision and it doesn't work out. When you have a coach that is NOT making reasonable decisions THAT is when a coach is open for criticism. For example- not making any mound visits when JB was struggling and giving up runs after we took the lead. Or bunting down two runs in the seventh inning with a guy that leads the team in home runs.
Those are things that Henderson not only did today but CONSISTENTLY does and it has without a doubt in my mind cost us wins.
This isn't about hindsight- it's about playing the percentages and having the common sense to know that when a pitcher is getting knocked around you don't just leave them out there to rot or just hope for the best. Because hindsight says those things probably weren't going to work anyway to start with.
How about just putting your players in the best chance to succeed which ultimately is what a great head coach does. Henderson has demonstrated throughout this season either by lineup, by position, decisions on starting pitching and relief pitching and finally on when to take said pitchers out that he isn?t even an average coach. He?s cost us at least 6-7 games by his idiocy alone in all phases of the game. As I stated earlier, a fully focused Cann with no fooling around could have squeezed a 40 win season out of this team.

Look I love and always respect your thoughts. You probably have forgot more about baseball than I will ever know. But my point is different decisions might make a difference but if we change a decision are the opposition not going to counter it? I see the little things like mound visits but at the end of it our guys have to produce when called upon. Now if we are playing guys that shouldn?t be out there I agree. The SEC is wide open with a lot of teams in the running including us. Should we have won a few more? Probably!

And I agree Cann cost us 2-3 maybe more but that’s not on this staff. It’s a tough situation but I think at the end of it no matter who makes a decision our guys have to finish the deal. We didn’t finish this weekend after doing so against teams we shouldn’t have beat. Woulsyof loved 1 more this weekend but it’s time for the guys to play their A game. If they don’t. This season will be done soon

It's not that black and white as "well, if we did this then they would have done that so it wouldn't really matter". There are certain things that a coach can do to increase the odds of winning the game or getting a favorable result. That's why stats are such a big part of the game and having gotten more and more advanced over the years.
For example if you have a pitcher that is struggling and you go out and talk to them on the mound- it can range from a minor mechanical adjustment to just simply getting them to re-focus- those INCREASE the odds of the pitcher getting a hitter out. And let's say Henderson went out there and they still hit JB anyway- at least there is the comfort in knowing that the coach did everything that he could do to give us the best chance to get a favorable outcome. Henderson didn't do that so it falls back on him.
Same thing with the bunting. When you are down by two and you have nine outs left you don't want to give away an out especially when you have a guy that is leading your team in home runs at the plate. Especially when there is only one runner on base and getting him home still means that you are down by one.
