but remember - the limits apply to where you return to ... ie, you can fish LA waters but when you return to the boat launch in Ms. you have to observe MS. catch limits or vice-versa

It only applies if you wet a line in MS. We keep our boat at the same place that Shore Thing leaves out of a lot of the time (Bay Marina). If we go fish the LA Marsh or Isle au Pitre we have to come straight back to the launch. We can't stop and fish the BSL bridge. If we do we are now under the MS limits. My cousin lives on the Bay and never fishes MS. He got stopped by Ms coast guard in the bay on his way in from LA waters with a LA speck limit. Authority asked him where he was coming from. Answered Cabbage Reef, Isle au Pitre, etc... and showed LA fishing licenses. No problem.

ETA-you can fish LA from MS and use LA limits as long as you come straight in and don't fish MS on your way out or in. That's my understanding at least and what all the MS charters that fish LA do.
