We need to jump on em early, so we don't have the game on the line when our pen has to enter

Need the starter to give us 4. We can get 2 out of Barton. Barlow, Self and Price give us 1 each. But we do need to jump out. We should be able to with getting into their pen so much the last 2 days.

Hats off to Poole... he's 6/15 (.400) the last 4 games. Hopefully the adjustment period is over for him and he's about to lock down a spot

I was scrolling thru the vols pre SEC schedule and find it surprising they are facing losing their 1st 6 SEC games. They seemed like a pretty decent team. Now they are eying being swept by a team that they themselves were swept in their 1st SEC series.

Well, I guess that's just baseball. Believe me, if they have a decent coach, they'll be pissed off today and they will be hungry.

I think they do have a decent coach, but there's just something about Tennessee that ruins careers:

    Head coaching record

Season Team Overall Conference Standing Postseason
UC Irvine Anteaters (Big West Conference) (2005-2007)
    2005 UC Irvine 31-25 10-11 5th
    2006 UC Irvine 36-24 11-10 3rd NCAA Regional
    2007 UC Irvine 47-17-1 15-6 T-2nd College World Series
    UC Irvine: 114-66-1 36-27
Cal State Fullerton Titans (Big West Conference) (2008-2011)
2008 Cal State Fullerton 41-22 16-8 T-1st NCAA Super Regional
2009 Cal State Fullerton 47-16 17-7 2nd College World Series
2010 Cal State Fullerton 46-18 21-3 1st NCAA Super Regional
    2011 Cal State Fullerton 41-17 19-5 1st NCAA Regional
    Cal State Fullerton: 175-73 73-23
    Tennessee Volunteers (Southeastern Conference) (2012-present)

    2015 Tennessee 24-26 11-18 6th (East)

He will be gone after this year. Got to be some athletic dept problems where they cant win there. Not like he forgot how to coach.

UC Irvine and CSF are both great baseball programs, so it may be that he's not as good a coach as it seems. Same with a place like VCU in basketball. Their coaches always seem great, but that program runs itself.

Tougher competition in the SEC, than he had faced before, might be the reason.

I bet he regrets the move. From CA to the SEC section of baseball that is just plagued.

Much easier where he came from, Tn doesn't care about baseball, they are a bottom feeder for baseball in the Sec. Hard to recruit players when the school and fans care more women's basketball.

It's hard for them to recruit against Vanderbilt for in state kids.

He's a redshirt junior. Transferred from ICC two years ago. Red shirted last year.

He's got a high ceiling, IMO. Tall, long, athletic, has some pop and can run. Cohen said he was the fastest player he'd ever coached. He's obviously still adjusting to this level though. He's had a tremendously tough time with the breaking ball.
