I believe Richie Brown gave us everything he had and I hope he goes on to success in the NFL. That being said Chris White was bigger, faster and just as smart and was never more than a solid special teams player in the NFL( not that there's anything wrong with that at all) just a comparison. I love what both Richie and Chris did for State!

Our team will miss Richie as much or more for his quiet, dignified leadership as they will his play. Yes, he struggled a lot last year, but then a whole bunch of our players struggled last year. What was the common denominator?
Also, is it possible his struggles tackling had more to do with our emphasis on "SeaHawk tackling" and the scheme change?
Richie Brown was and is a class act, and I'm proud to call him a fellow Bulldog. Gonna pray he gets a chance with an NFL team, but I also have no doubt that young man is going to be a success in whatever career-path he settles into.

Right now he has a 4th-6th round grade.
Bennie ran a 4.77 at the Combine 6'1/229...Richie is listed at 6'2/240....he'll beat 4.77 for sure
Preston Smith 4.74
BMac 4.66
Chris White 4.68

I think Chris White was a much better MLB than Richie. Very good sideline to sideline and when he showed up the tackle was made.

Reggie Ragland ran a 4.72. I'm not so sure Richie beats 4.77.

This site has Richie listed at 6'2" 240 and a 4.8 40

I still don't know what our defense's problem was all year. But we will not miss how Ritchie played in 2016.

We will miss his knowledge, the fact that he knew his assignment and where to be, and general presence. He's just not the type that is going to stand a back up in the hole or be as explosive as Leo or gay will be.

A Sean lee type? Yea maybe in the sense his type of game could be similar. Sean lee? No. Lee is a top 4-5 lb in the NFL.

If green doesn't get any better I know we will miss him. Because there was a huge dropoff when rb left the field. And no, he didn't have his best year, but or next up guy hasn't done a thing either.

Chris White had phenom closing speed. He could run down about anything.

We will miss him, but the guys that are replacing him are more talented. Doesnt mean they will be better players, especially at ILB where you can make up for athleticism with instincts and having some shit in your grits. Richie had that, he just had no idea what the hell to do last year, along with the 10 other guys on the field for us playing defense

Good time. Best of luck to him

Richie is Uber athletic but not very physical. That doesn't pose well being a LB. That's why he's able to excel at drills and the mental aspect. However, he disappeared in every game with a big physical back. We won't miss him at all. I wish him the best of luck in the NFL. They'll put him at OLB and he'll be a good player for years.

I think his biggest problem last year was Sirmon. That probably goes for a lot of our players.

I rewatched the om game, one of his better games, the other day, and took some notes. 40% of the times he had a chance to make a tackle, he ran himself out of the play...chose the wrong gap, went with the flow of blocking too much, etc. Not sure what percentage of that is Sirmon and what percentage of that is Ritchie's instincts, but I think a system where he reads less and attacks more would be ideal...Leo on the other hand...geeze the boy has instincts!

Peter South brought a halo of fog down over the field for the defense to try and see through. It was a little like that move "The Fog" but without any violence.
