I wish some, of these suppposedly mature adults, would not take what a recruit says on twitter and try to determine what he means, because they don't have a clue what he was thinking at the time or his reason for tweeting what he did.

OL is the only place we need to upgrade. And Lashley, Champion, and Rankin imply that we are doing that already. If people are waiting on us to start pulling day 1 elite OL -- they will be waiting for awhile most likely. But all 3 of those are high ceiling guys.

I'm not expecting day 1 elites, I just don't want to sign some warm bodies that appear to be elite. We've missed on some "top rated" guys that we were counting on and it's killing our depth. Will Champion ever get out of Juco?

IMO our miss is in not taking more guys -- and letting the ones we have stick around too long when it's pretty clear what they are and are not. And this is even with them still managing to cull themselves...

Great point. This may go against Mullen's overall strategy, but he needs to get guys to agree to go on medical scholarship like Saban does.

Im a big believer that we should be signing 25 players every year, until we simply can't.

Does college football need 85 scholarships?
NFL only has 53 guys & a practice squad of 10 or so.
Seems to me, it would help Title 9 issues with baseball & help even the playing field in college football if they reduced the scholarship limit to 75 or 80 & only allowed teams to sign 22 or 23 players a year.

Big difference between NFL and College, in the NFL everyone can play.
Normally RS freshman and freshman aren't ready to play, that usually makes up 35 players on scholarship. If you move down to 75, you will be playing with 40 kids that can actually compete.

Listening to the Bonyard today & Rosebowl isn't very confident about AJ Brown. Says Alabama is the team to beat right now & that we need to pray that we make it through the weekend with Brown visiting Bama right after their NC.
He does say that 60% of AJ's recruitment is still to go, but that it's going to be a battle.
With no inside knowledge, I still feel confident about AJ because I just can't imagine that the MSU family, alumni, & coaches would allow a star from Starkville to get out of town. Surely, we can figure out a way to win this one.

Don't shoot me for this, but hearing Kobe Jones is far from a lock as well. I know we have heard nothing but positives for him for a very long time, don't know if anyone else has heard the same but I have heard it from someone who is pretty "in the know"

meh, I don't believe this one. It's rumor season, but this one doesn't pass the smell test or make sense
AJ will be a battle, but I don't think Kobe will be.
The key with AJ will be getting him to visit. It's not so much the visit that matters, it's AJ being serious enough about MSU & about his future at MSU to come on a visit.
It would be major embarrassing if we lose this one. I'm holding out hope though

Look, Brown and Simmons are hands down the top 2 players in the State this year and both within spitting distance of our campus. If we end up losing both of these guys I don't see how this recruiting season really becomes anything but disappointing. I mean to have 2 players that good right on your doorstep during the most successful period of MSU football ever and not be able to pull either one would be, to reference the Polkster, a slap in the face and punch in the gut. Just REALLY hope that doesn't happen.

This would certainly call me to question the future & ceiling of our football program under this current coaching staff & administration. If we lose one, their will be disappointment, but, if we lose both, there will be rioting & major disappointment in all corners of the MSU fan base.
In college sports, you can only sell two things: 1. Winning 2. Hope. Only Alabama & a few others actually win enough to sell winning. All MSU has is winning enough to buy more time for hope to come to fruition. If you lose both Simmons & Brown, how can any rational MSU fan have legitimate hope about the future of the program?
