Had a cop tell a friend of mine they prefer the 40's. They said the 9's didn't have the desired knock down on some one hooped up on whatever. They tried the 45 but it had too much recoil and didn't have the magazine capacity. The 40 gained favor as it had knockdown closer to the 45 but the recoil and mag capacity of a 9.
