I like the report about Fred Ross looking good, but what about chappelle, morrow, Lewis, Johnson, etc? Who should we expect to produce from the wr position this year?

I'd expect serious production from RoJo, Tubby, and Fred Brown. Chappelle will be in the mix, too. Malcolm should see a big number of targets from the TE position. Holloway is a wild card. Serious speed, average hands. RB is loaded, so I don't see him getting many carries. If the reports about Ross are accurate, it wouldn't surprise me to see him play & jump Morrow in the rotation.

I know he's still just a RS Soph, but I'm about ready to give up on Morrow. $1,000,000 dolla skillz, 10 cent head. He just doesn't have the physicality or "want to" you need to be an impact WR in this league. He's tall and fast, but that's about it. I saw him drop a couple easy receptions in the Maroon-White Game. There were a couple other times he was targeted and absolutely refused to fight for the ball. IMO, he's the latest MSU WR hype bust. There's still time for him to turn it around, but until he decides he WANTS it, he's going to be buried on the depth chart. And if he doesn't WANT it as a 3rd year player, he probably never will.

He's still young, but he needs to show something this year for sure. Tubby, RoJo, & Malcolm will be the show in my opinion. Like WMD is suggesting, we definitely need 2 or 3 from Chappelle, Morrow, Brown, Holloway, or Ross to step up.

I'm curious to see if we really are going to play with 2 and 3 TE's a good bit this year as rumored. If we have 2 TE's in the game- that means we can only play 2 WR's with them. That means alot of Rojo and Tubby

From what I've about practices, Fred Brown will be a solid player for us at some point, but as far as next year goes, it'll be Tubby, Mojo, and Rojo. I loved what I saw of Chappelle in the spring game, but that was a very limited sample. He has some #swag about him.

There's no chance of that due to the builds of our TEs and I'm not going to blast that like I should.
On another note, reports seem to favor that we will be improved at that position with the Texas boys, Rojo and Tubby.
We all know that Tubby is more explosive than bump but needs consistency, and the rest are more athletic than C Smith and Arceto.
Our tight ends should be a factor too if the hype is correct

Morrow has all the talent in the world but isn't consistent with his hands. It's weird. He catches the high contention balls with a defender hanging on him but drops a wide open ball. His hands are better in a battle for whatever reason.

From everything I'm hearing, I put Fred Ross here. The guy I referenced in my post would not blow smoke. I have to be a bit vague but trusting my guy, he's 100% the real deal. I wouldn't be shocked if he starts or is in the main rotation a few weeks in.

I agree with this. He's much more of a slot WR. As I've said 18 million times, I think he and Perk need to be used in a "super athlete" role to maximize their potential and create mismatches. But with Holloway's speed, he's a threat to break it every time he touches it. I really want to see him & Tubby as our return specialists.

For me, Fred Brown was the most pleasant surprise in the spring. I've been on the RoJo, MoJo, Tubby bandwagon for a while, and they'll definitely be our top 3 targets. But Brown ran good routes, worked himself open, and showed good hands. Good size, good speed. Used his body well to shield defenders and really competed for the ball. I know there's a ton of hype around Ross, but Brown is too good to not see some action based on what I've seen.

I have faith in Morrow. Crappy WR don't make catches with 2 guys all over him where he has to go up and get it. He shows his talent. He will drop one where he is so open he has time to think about it. The key will be if Gonzo can get him to stop thinking and just playing

No way Jose. The 1 thing he can do really well right now (end zone corner & fades), makes him the only guy on our squad who excels at that. He's worth his weight in gold only if he gives you those 2-3 chances a game. IMO he'll come around, hopefully sooner than later. His upside is unmatched

He hasn't. That's why I say he's pretty much a bust in my book. If he couldn't be trusted for that role last season when we started nothing but a bunch of midget WRs, why should he be trusted for that role now that we have bigger, more athletic WRs slated to play?

And Beast must be seeing something I haven't. Every time I've seen Morrow, he's been a ***** that won't fight for the ball. Maybe he's making tougher grabs in practice, but he hasn't done it when I've watched him. He's tall and fast, but I haven't seen anything to indicate he's physical. That combo doesn't make you a legit SEC WR. Gotta be tough to make it in this league.

Since he hasn't played much in games, yes I'm going off practice. Don't write off a sophomore guys. Fwiw he made 2 TD grabs in the spring game and fade routes if I'm not mistaken. Can't speak for everyone but no way I write off a guy based on his freshman year. He develop a bit, he's fine.

I'm not writing the kid off. I want to see him succeed and move on to the next level.

I would just like to see him do some of those things in a game. If not, why not give him a chance to excel in another position? He might turn out to be the next Bruce Plummer (my first "favorite" MSU player).

As I said in a previous post above, he still has time to figure it out. And I hope like hell he does. Fast 6'4" WRs don't grow on trees, especially at MSU. He could be a big piece of the puzzle for us. But so far, he's been all hype. He should've at least been able to help us in the redzone last season, and apparently couldn't even do that. We'll see what happens this year, but a 3rd year player should be expected to produce. Period.

He better figure it out quickly because he's no longer the only tall receiver we have. All of a sudden, we now have an abundance of 6' 2" to 6' 6" receivers who could play that role also. The competition is about to get intense.

I want to see all of our players succeed. However, the reality for Morrow is that his time is right now.
