I still don't know how dude missed that goal at the end of regulation. That penalty kick play we had toward the end of the 2nd extra time was beautiful if Dempsey coulda only made it

We should've played more of an attacking lineup from the start. Think we gave Belgium a bit too much credit

Will we be better in 2018? The young guys look good. Will Tim Howard still be playing?

Howard would be 39 so no. Guzan will be our number one, and he's a very good keeper. So not a massive loss as far as talent there goes, big loss in leadership. But to the original question, yes, we will be a lot better.

I need to start to slowly move to football mode. Just read a bottom line on Espn that a linebacker got signed (LB) and immediately thought it meant left back hah

Wouldn't have made any difference because the off sides flag was up and their is no instant replay.

My thoughts from this match:
Dempsey disappointed me in his play. He pissed away too many opportunities.
Howard is a MAN and we are going to miss his leadership on the pitch.
We have a LOT of good young talent on this team for the next World Cup. I'm actually pretty excited about our chances next time.
Jurgen played way too defensive with his lineup. I expected a 4-2-3-1 lineup from him. When I saw that we were running a 4-3-3 I immediately knew that it was the wrong move.

Bradley was a disappointment the entire tourney to me. Too many lost possessions and bad touches

I wouldn't count Howard out just yet, keepers can play longer than others, it just takes keeping themselves in shape. If he can keep himself in shape and play near the level he is at now, and if he wants too, there is a possibility he could play keeper in 2018. First, this team has got to qualify and we saw this year with Mexico nothing is guaranteed

Agree, we will be a lot better. The USA will always be good in the goal because that is the one position that our country is good at producing. Our baseball, football, and basketball culture leads to being able to find players that can catch, jump, and dive.
We were the youngest team in the world cup, and will only be getting better. We will be more athletic and explosive in 2018, but we need to develop our skill level. The other good teams are possessing the ball way to long against us.

When does qualifying start?

I think another factor was this team was just out of gas the majority of the game. I guess the group took a lot out of everyone, but they got a shot of energy after that goal that would have been good to have in regulation.

He could, but I feel very strongly that a 39 year old Howard is not better than a 33 year old Guzan. Guzan is really a good keeper

Green at 23, Jozy at 28, brooks at 25. Lot of guys will be at or entering their peak

With Altidore and Julian Green up top in 2018, we should be much more explosive. However, we must improve in the mid-field. Our skill level doesn't enable us to maintain possession. We cannot beat Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Netherlands, etc... without being more skilled in the mid-field.
Soccer is a finesse sport and American's like to play aggressive and physical. The sport doesn't fit our current mindset, and until we improve in this area, beating the finesse European and South American teams in going to be highly unlikely.
