This is in no way surprising, for either Ghana or soccer in general.
As for the Nigeria play, it wouldn't surprise me if he did that on purpose, but I also don't know that you can say he did. Those goalies are trying to squeeze the ball as hard as they can, which can sometimes lead to mistakes like that if you squeeze too hard and one hand slips off.
Maybe not to you, but it's pretty surprising to me. I've only been a World Cup soccer fan so far, so I don't hear about things like this.
