    What's the rule on blocking the plate? How is the runner supposed to get to the plate? I know you can't run him over now.

    He was definitely out but I just don't understand how in college the catcher is allowed to obstruct the plate when at the same time the runner is not allowed to run over the catcher.

    Catchers can pretty much do whatever the hell they want as long as they are making a play for the ball or have the ball.

    Apparently the catcher can totally obstruct the path to the plate and the runner has to go around him which takes significantly longer. One sided rule for sure.

    Was going to ask that myself because he was setup to block the plate way before he got that ball from the short stop. The difference in the game now is a fair ball called foul.
