I will say this because I saw it this weekend. There is a vocal minority of our fanbase, and they specifically come from about 4 spots in the outfield, that base their entire worth in life on standing on platforms of wood 3 months out of the year. They are losers who have turned this thing into a baseball vs other sports debate. And it is stupid. Those people are the exact reason I am for 10xing the rig prices because it will price those 50 thousandaires out of their spots. 95 percent of Mississippi State fans support all sports, that minority though will make you think that you are evil if you do not only support baseball. They also will tell you that baseball matters more in the country than it does. I told one of them this weekend that the softball national championship outdraws baseball most years and they told me I was stupid. I then pulled up statistics and they said that I made them up.

Will never fault State guys funding their sport of choice. Baseball guys want to fund baseball to make sure it stays at a high level and they came thru last Spring. Now we are a Top 5 team this year.
Our basketball guys fund basketball to try and keep it relevant. Same with football but money goes farther in basketball than football.

Like I said, I am not sure I would disagree with you. Especially after watching our lineup through almost 2 months.

We have 8 games to score 11 more runs to be on pace with that 2019 line-up.
Most runs in school history:
1997- 633
1989- 617
1999- 596
We sit at 254 in 25 games. Say we play 40 more games and average 9 runs- that would get this team over 600 runs

But I learned something very valuable in 2016, when we were arguably the best team in the country, it only takes one team who has a player on a heater to beat you.
That's why my personal standard is a SR. If you do that every year you are among the elite in the sport. Now yes, not making Omaha would be very disappointing. But no more disappointing than 2016 or 1989.

Would have been different in today's game because back then there were no SR. Not sure if North Carolina beats us with a fresh and rested Bobby Reed and friends.

In my lifetime, was not alive for 89, 16 is the most crushed I have been ending a baseball season. And that includes 13, and I was in the bleachers in Omaha.

Same for me. My Dad passed away a couple weeks before the Super. Was the opposite of Angels in the outfield for me. Just gut wrenching.

Absolutely. MFers on this board sure are good at telling other people how to spend their money or spend their leisure time. I guess that?s why their master thinks he?s a ?king?.

I?m still trying to figure out what I said wasn?t true. I didn?t tell people how to spend their money. I was just making an observation. Baseball is a club sport. Football and basketball are not. That?s a fact. Our fans will pack a baseball stadium but barely show up to the jump. Therefore, our fans care more about baseball. We have financial issues in football and basketball but we chose to spend their money we need on those sports for a club sport. You can get mad about it all you want, but nothing I said is false. When realignment comes around and we get to a super league, it is not going to matter how good our baseball team is. Just look at Oregon State. Nobody cared and they have a better baseball program than we do.

Not a better program. A Hall of Fame Coach who essentially did for OSU what Polk did for State. They had a nice run under Casey. They don?t play SEC or ACC schedules.
But I?ll stand by my statement that at Mississippi State, Men?s basketball is about on the level of Women?s tennis and a step below women?s basketball!

Back on topic - a Friday night baseball game
Charlie Foster vs Elliot Hunter
I was expecting TV-Duke-Pitzer
The plan is Foster-TV-Duke
If this works, wow. Foster gets a Nickname.
"foster Australian for Kershaw"

Baseball is not a club sport and is televised. I am able to watch every State game on TV. Baseball is a money-maker in the SEC. It's not a drain on a program like the others
Soccer is a club sport. As is tennis, softball, golf, and track. You could also argue women's basketball is a club sport. It loses millions every year and is the biggest drain on the athletic program year after year
