Dabo doesn't have the push he once did. Unfortunately for the NCAA, the best coaches right now(Cignetti, Cristobal, Lanning, Kiffin, Day, and even Smart) are very vocal that they may not like the portal but they utilize it and are going to take advantage in the grey areas. Coaches like Dabo are being pushed out because he refuses to use the portal. He is just like Saban to an extent. They got used to hoarding 5 stars and they refuse to adapt to this new era.
Saban also isn't going to call out a former asst(Golding) to help a former rival.

Saban fired Golden he could care less. He also doesn't have to call him out just the notion of changes needed encompasses all that's broken.

Well, OM doesn't really care. They just it again and got Horatio Fields from Mizzou, where he had transferred from Auburn.
Also, I mean if the NCAA does this to OM, what are they going to do to Miami? They clearly tampered with Mensah and he had a signed rev share contract. The Clemson kid didn't have anything with rev share signed.

I imaging Miami wasn't dumb enough to have the HC reach out directly when they are enrolled and in class at another school

You're making my case, something is about to change.

Nothing is going to change. That's just more Mississippi St fans yelling at clouds that things are going to change. This is the new reality. Adapt or Die.

What does it matter if they were? Nothing is going to be done to Golding or OM outside of maybe a slap on the wrist with OVs or something. Which is so damn easy to get around.

This is my point in the recruiting thread I was saying about Seaton. We should have had a ton of guys identified as contingencies to spend that money on. Does not matter if they are in the portal or enrolled elsewhere. Yeah, don?t be as stupid as Ole Miss and have your HC text them directly but do something with that Seaton money.

I mean we didn't wait on just Seaton. We tried to go after Jacarius Peak, he wasn't interested. We tried to go after Lance Heard, he wasn't interested. Grant Seagren? Same thing.
This fallacy that we just sat on our hands while we waited for Seaton needs to be put to bed. We missed on a big target, but we missed on multiple big targets. And it wasn't a money issue. It was a they weren't interested issue. We told Peak we'd go above what he was asking for and it didn't move the needle a bit.

I get it, not everyone is interested. My point is I find it shocking we have millions of dollars not used on Seaton to spend and cannot match that to 1, 3, 5, 10, whatever number of players and whatever position that improve the team.

If they have to release all these players and have to go against teams legitimate like us, that money dries up fast. Plus most of the top guys have signed so they are buying scraps.
If Golding record matches ours this season, it would feel like the equivalent to our first year with Lebby to them.
You would like they'd learn from their and our mistake and make Golding interm for a year but they'd been watching him and saying they were eventually going to go after him since he was at DSU

It looks like something indeed is about to happen to Ole Miss and this situation. They're too many prominent coaches speaking on it now. Urban is now speaking on it and putting extreme pressure on. He says if Dabo provides receipts and Ole Miss lies they shouldn't be able to coach.

I'll believe the NCAA will do something when I see it. This is more wishing by our fan base that OM will go away. The kid hadn't signed a rev share agreement. Clemson is just mad they weren't paid a buyout and Dabo is mad he doesn't understand the portal. Also.....we did the same thing with Tyler Lockhart last year. We communicated with him after he had signed the financial aid papers with OM. That's illegal.

No wishing something is about to happen. How extensive I don't know

I think something will happen. It's too public now and you have Fresno State joining the party.
Now, they're not going to get the death penalty or anything like that but at the very least I bet they get fined.

What's a 500K fine to them? Or any program? Hell, Dickie or David could cut that check for them and they wouldn't know it was missing.
That's what I'm talking about. Our fans want something punitive and it's not going to be anything like that. Like I said, they may be penalized an OV or have to pay a fine, but it's going to be a massive nothing burger and teams will continue to do it.

It has nothing to do with "our fans". Our school has nothing to do with this. It's pretty clear this is building stream and more than a fine will occur. Ole Miss could appeal and nothing happens but it's pretty clear steam is building and this has nothing to do with a rivalry.

It's wishful thinking on the part of our fans though. No other fan base is throwing stuff out there like, "Golding is going to be fired." "Golding is going to be suspended for the season." "The player is going to be ineligible." "The NCAA is going to use this as a bargaining chip to make sure Chambliss doesn't play."
Those are the things I've heard OUR fan base say. No other fan base is coming up with these theories. Not even Clemson.
My personal favorite was that the NCAA wasn't going to let Ole Miss participate in the portal next year. I think that was Gene's Page.

The fans aren't accusing Ole Miss, current and former coaches are. We can sit and get our popcorn ready.

And nothing will happen. Again, it's wishful thinking.
Will they get fined? Maybe.
Will Golding get suspended? Maybe for a half or a throwaway game.
Is anything long term going to happen? Nope.
Again, you're expecting an entity that has thrown their hands up since the start of this to all of a sudden decide they want to enforce the rules. It's not happening. Dabo Swinney, who has a winning percentage of .587 in the new era of college football, is not moving the needle like he used to. He's essentially crying because they were too cheap to just pay the kid. Which has been his problem in this new era.
