That's a serious concern. Hopefully, it doesn't last as long as 2021 and we get melting sooner.

Latest euro with a huge surge north keeping the golden triangle a mostly rain event until Sunday. Just a big waiting game to see how it plays out.

The models are really crazy here in Southern PA. One of the stations is using the euro putting us at 15-18 inches and the other one only 4-6. Still seems too early to tell.

Yea we get these kind of storms every 5 years or so but the temperatures after that is going to make it worse along with another storm looking like it's coming in next Wednesday, so this does appear to be a disaster in the works for Southern PA and WV.

So what does it mean when they are calling for ice? Is that in the form of sleet or rain that is going to freeze and accumulate on trees and power lines?
I hope the temps are cold enough to freeze anything before it hits the ground!!!

It pushing north on the latest euro could be worse for us closer to TN. Might be better for y'all in central MS.

If you are unlucky enough to get caught on the highway with ice and snow, I can give you one piece of very good advice - COAST along over bridges. Do not give it gas or brake!! Most people in Miss. do not know how to drive in these conditions. Best advice, stay home.

Last sentence is all you need to know. Up north the peeps all know to carry tire chains with them because of the icing. And dont even try to go up a icy hill or down one. You will end up in the woods.

Several years ago I attended a training class in Lebanon, NH (Dartmouth). Flew into Manchester and drove up. About a 2 hour drive. It was late April or early May.

Toward the end of the week, the weather forecast predicted a snow storm to drop 4 to 6 inches the night before I was scheduled to drive back to Manchestor.

I was talking to the hotel clerk about it and I guess he could tell this Mississippi boy was nervous about it. He looked at me and said, "Don't worry everyone up here knows how to drive in it." I replied "I not worried about them. They need to be worried about me."

    Fortunately, I made it home.

Typically, when you hear ice it's referring to freezing rain which is worst case scenario for power outages.

It does seem like alot of these models tend to trend north as storms get closer. Not always but probably 80 percent of the time.

SVD, what?s the latest? AccuWeather saying .15-.25 inches of ice near Memphis and 2-6 inches of snow. Asked one of my bosses last night if they were going to cut us loose Friday night if the roads start freezing. I got the long version of ?No, you plebes have to work and rush life and limb. If you wreck, so be it.? Pisses me off because I know all the managers will be working from home all safe and warm tomorrow night.

I think NW MS will get winter weather guaranteed. The big question is where will the heavy band of freezing rain set up. Models were shifting it north up into the Memphis area, but some have been trending it back SE more into the 82 corridor. If that happens, the Memphis area will probably be more of a sleet / snow mix. One thing for sure, where ever that band of freezing rain sets up is going to be in for a bad time. 1" ice accumulations look likely and it may be more. Where that is will all depend on the exact track of the low. For every mile north or south it tracks that moves that line one mile.
