Don't create a straw man in a poll and present it as fact.
Why is it more fair to add a hypothetical and undefined "someone else"?
According to the OP, the only candidates the athletic department considered were Lebby and Mullen. I think that out of those 2, a very clear supermajority of the fanbase would have preferred the opposite of what the AD apparently decided. If they had considered Brian Newberry or Brent Vigen instead of Mullen, I would infer the results of Vigen vs. Lebby or Newberry vs. Lebby poll.

Lebby isn?t even remotely close to Croom. Lebby is a legit elite play caller with an outstanding offensive system. That?s just foolish talk.

Elite? At what? Play calling for the special Olympics

Was it elite when he kept running Taylor up the middle over and over, and then switched back to Shapen to run him up the middle too?

I doubt he makes it through the mid point of the year. If we play Troy, he will likely lose that one and Minnesota. I could see us at 1-5 when he gets let go.

Tater, need to start this thread over. The same posters have hi-jacked another over King Dan and Lebby sucks.

They will take over the next one too.
That's why I don't even try to argue with them.

There are several that got their ego stripped by Dan when he was here which is where the whole story that he?s an ?asshole? came from. Just because the guy didn?t want to give them carte blanche with the players. That ok though. They got their golden boy into the AD slot and then got their guy Moorhead?Leach hire really got them upset though. Golden boy stepped out on his own and didn?t get the blessing. Hurt their feelings enough that they didn?t fight to keep him when Auburn called but then they REALLY got to call the shots and Zach it was! Then Lebby after that train wreck. Anyone but Dan Mullen who hurt their feelings while taking the program to #1. That?s the story I?ve heard anyway. I figure it?s mostly true.
ETA: I hope Lebby is incredibly successful and gets us back to regular bowl games and the occasional run at the playoffs. I don’t care who is the coach I just want State to win and that’s not happening right now.

IF lane does not go with orgeron it would be nice to know we have him a call.

Lebby scored more points this season than Croom did in his first two seasons combined
There are some really dumbtakes in this thread

So, you are basing his play calling in totality over a 7 play sample size. Cool.
Lebby?s play calling somehow produced 0.051 EPa per play despite having a bad OL and a limited QB.

DC doesnt really matter that much compared to amassing talent- need legit players on defense with a little depth. That will determine our success. Hutz is a scapegoat for lack of talent. Hutz wasnt getting toasted- #4 was.
Whoever the new DC is needs to buy some talent

You think Lebby wouldn't do that if any school thought he was worth talking to?

The OP was the one who brought up Mullen in this thread.

True but the stat that matters is wins - and Crxxm has 2 more SEC wins and 1 less overall win playing 2 less non-conference games through 2 years
If lebby hadn?t shot himself in the dikc multiple times this year - the comparison would have never happened

Croom coached in a different SEC also.
NIL/Portal has changed it all. 2025 Mississippi State is what we are looking at for the future. Pete Golding will continue to win at Mississippi as long as they spend $10MM more per year than us and remain a Top 5 SEC spender
