Per Pete Thamel
Franklin and Virginia Tech are in the early stages of talks.
Also Florida podcasters are down right giddy right now. Boosters are telling people they have Kiffin.

Concerning the Florida part of your post; this is how you screw up a deal.

So, South Carolina fans want Shane Beamer gone?
Just smoke? Or is that another open SEC job this off season?

Blowing a 30-3 halftime lead is tough. Not sure how one comes back from that.
Beamer is so unlikable. Cant stand that guy

Seems like there are only a few schools with the coach they like and the coach is not potentially leaving.
Kirby Smart, DeBoer and Elko. 3 dudes out of 16. Vandy, Mizzou, and Ole Miss have people wanting their coach.
Venables is loved? At least this week, yes.

If they fired him it wouldn't shock me. Might come down to whether he beats Clemson or not.

I don't know which is worse. Losing after leading 30-3 at the half or giving up 24 points in the 4th quarter to lose.

Add into that, at halftime and first half interview on the field , his bragging that they beat A&M last year. Then running into the tunnel with his arms pumping to his fans.
He is a glorified cheerleader.

If they fire Shane, I want him on our staff the next day as STC and AHC.

Concur. And if Lane leaves we should go after Joe Judge too.

We'd have to hope we could pull him from OM. He's very happy in Oxford.

at least though it would not be "his wife is not happy in Starkville" .
It would be worth a good bump in pay just for alumni energy.

It's not that she wouldn't be happy here. But they're very happy in Oxford. It's going to be tough to pull Joe if OM wants him back in a coaching capacity.

Understood and I would assume some longer term guarantee in stability.

What if Lane is waiting on Texas to open up? Sexton represents Sark. Could LSU and Florida fighting over Kiffin be a smokescreen?

It has nothing to do with his wife. I played with Joe and his wife is a MSU graduate. Joe is from PA and met his wife in Starkville. If Joe was an assistant coach anywhere in college and he was offered the State job he'd take it. Stop making up stuff.
