    Potential OCs

Look it is very obvious that Lebby needs to cede play calling duties. Even the greatest offensive minds in today?s game have OCs. Lebby needs to focus on being the HC. Do I think he will cede play calling? Yes. I think if the right person was interested he would cede play calling duties.

    1. Kendall Briles-This one is obvious. Things have started to grow a little stale in Ft Worth. His wife does not like Starkville, but I think Lebby being here and being around family might make things a little more attractive to them. He knows this offense forwards and backwards and he is a hell of a play caller. He also called plays for KJ Jefferson at Arkansas, so he knows how to call a game for a big physical QB.

    2. Phillip Montgomery-was with Lebby, Briles, and co. at Baylor and was with Art before that at Houston. He also is an experienced HC that Lebby could bounce things off. He also could be considered for an analyst role even if we went with another OC.

    3. Kevin Decker-currently the OC at Old Dominion so it would be an easy pull. Studied this offense with Heupel in 2020 after the FCS season was postponed, he was at Fordham. They average over 450 yds a game and he knows how to utilize the QB in the run game. He also could bring his QB with him in case Kamario?s game goes to hell.

    4. GJ Kinne- The trend of HCs leaving to become OCs is a thing and if he lit the world on fire he could have a P4 job and be out of here in a year. Also a former HC so he could help Lebby from that standpoint. We would have to AT LEAST match 2 but hell Pete is making 2.5 at OM, I would have no problem throwing 2.5 at Kinne. He also has underperformed a bit this year so he may want a chance to reinvent his image. I would throw the offer and just see. He also has called played for a physical run first QB in TJ Finley and made him look incredible.

    5. Joe Jon Finley- This is probably the easiest candidate to pull. He has called this offense with Lebby and knows it. Was also with Art and the crew at Baylor in 2015.

    Offensive Analyst

    1. Art Briles-Stop playing nice. 17 the media. Go win. Give the man a headset and hang 50 burgers on everyones ass.

Attracting a good OC to a coach that's 1 more losing season from being fired is gonna be tough

I think Lebby buys himself 2 seasons by ceding play calling and hiring an OC. Call it a little more than a hunch.

I'd love Briles....Kendall OR Art. And I agree with the other poster...quit being sissies, and hire Art if that will make us better (not sure it will). Ole Miss hired Kiffin and Beard as HEAD coaches with their baggage....we can hire Art as an analyst or OC. What's it going to do, hurt our perception? We already have the worst in the country. F 'em all. Just win

Now do defense. We gave up 300 yards rushing to a RB for the second time in as many seasons under this goon of a DC.

If Baker is let go at LSU we need to get him or the DC with South Carolina. Either one of those is an upgrade over Hutz.

I would add Blake Anderson at USM. He has been a head coach before and I think he can add something to the offense that can make it even more diverse and better.

That is me. I've said it since Lebby brought him to Starkville when he moved last year. Oh no, clutch our pearls, the media will write negative articles about Mississippi State. **** them all straight in the ass because when have they ever written a positive piece about State outside of Leach's death?

    Agree.

We always say you can't keep a coach just because he's a "good guy", it's about wins and losses not how good of a person they are. Well the same should be true for the opposite....can't NOT hire a guy just bc he may have baggage or a questionable past. If he can answer for it, own it, and show he's past it, and more importantly HELP US WIN....that is the job we are hiring someone to do

And I'm not saying Art can...but if it's the one bullet Lebby has left in his arsenal, he's getting canned after next year anyway most likely, so might as well fire it

The question is if it is obvious to Lebby he needs an OC?

Joe Judge - don't shoot me here, but does it help for our NIL with any boosters if he moves over to MSU in any capacity. I have no information but curious. At the very least I bet our special teams would improve.
That said, on your OP, sounds like that would give us some much needed boost.

We know he could coach special teams at the very least. I want him to get a head coaching job somewhere to see what he can actually do and if he can recruit. Because if he can he becomes a legit future head coaching candidate. And if he can't well we don't get to find out first hand.

I think Selmon has to float the idea to him.

I have heard some stuff this morning that were Lane to leave, he would be a top candidate for that job.

I think last night taught him that. I think when he goes back and watches that film he will see that there was far too much going on in that game for him to be the HC and still be trying to call plays.

Assuming MSU and Joe are still good? Back when we tried to hire him we were told MSU was his dream job.

I would hope the entire season taught him that. He really needs both an OC and a former experienced HC to guide him.
Pisses me off we are an SEC school, and having these discussions at the end of year 2. How does the 11th game of season 2 finally teach him anything.

I question the hire of a man with such minuscule dreams

Art Briles is the primary reason that half our fanbase never really supported the Lebby hire in the first place and our attendance has been noticeably lower over the last couple years. Doubling down on that for Lebby's last season would be quite the choice.
