Now tomorrow, some will come on here and say we can't fire him in this firing frenzy!
We can't compete against all the teams hiring coaches this year. BS. We could hire Moe, Curly , and Larry Fine and get better results!
-
There are dozens of successful G5/FCS head coaches we could plausibly hire, guys who aren't on Florida's radar, or Penn State's, or Auburn's, or LSU's, etc.

My 12 year old told me this earlier. He said get someone like BYU coach and stop worrying about all the "blue blood coaches." Even he understands this is the best concept and way to go about it.
Just so y'all know.. I ain't saying hire BYU coach. Just putting out there what my son said. Lol

In our situation I do believe that our BEST option is to take advantage of the uncertainty that is happening this offseason with so many coaching changes. Try to add as many great players from those teams from the portal as possible. See what happens in 2026. If we aren't any better in 2026 than we are now then go ahead and make the change and hire a coach with experience for 2027. If the team improves in 2026 then keep Lebby.
With so much movement this offseason the odds are there will be much less movement next offseason meaning the odds of us getting a better coach are higher.
We are just now starting to have stability for the first time since 2022. Also, our schedule is going to get a little easier and other teams will also be unstable.

I don't think we can say that for sure. It think we are entering a "new normal" where there are only 12 playoff spots and around 20-30 teams that think they deserve to be in the playoffs every year, so until they expand the field, there's going to be a lot of angry fanbases demanding a change every year.

Doesn't matter. Keep him, Fire him, the result will still be pain. Thats the life we've chosen. Doesn't matter who's driving the hearse, we're still headed to the burial

The problem is all these new coaches at these bigger programs are going to get the lion's share of the portal, leaving us with OL and DL pick overs that can't play in this league.

We were a 9.5 pt dog to Georgia, and we lost by 20. We were a 7.5 pt dog to Missouri, and we lost by 22. The wheels have come off

The Eggbowl score will be whatever Kiffin wants it to be. In all honesty I'm not certain Lebby can keep his job if the team quits on him during that game. That may be what gets him fired, not losing but the team quitting on him. He has two weeks to make this game a 4 quarter game and competive game.

What's crazy is that Lebby has toed the line all year, and his dumb ass probably could have gotten poached by a bigger better program and doubled his salary if he just closes out Texas, or Tennessee, or Florida. Not all of them even...just 1 or 2 of the games he had won. And he cost himself millions losing those games. He honestly would have been better off going 3-9 and never having leads and opportunities to beat those teams with more talent, because all it did was present opportunities to show that he didn't have what it takes to close out and beat someone with more talent. That he couldn't coach us to big victories.
Things would be so much different if the Tennessee And Texas and Florida games were how we ended the year, instead of these absolute embarrassments against Georgia and Mizzou, and the impending beat down Ole Miss will give us. We seem to have gone from improvement to regression, and that's not a good sign. If you can get someone proven at this point you absolutely do it if you're Selmon. Going to be tough this cycle, but what's to lose now? Who cares.

For Selmon to fire Lebby would be an admission that he was in over his head which would jeopardize his job ..... we are stuck with Lebby through 2026

"Write the check then". Took care of for you 4 Lebby believers we have left in our fanbase. That's all the defense to keep Lebby has now.

I'm hoping we can upgrade our assistant coaching staff, such as OL, DL, and Special teams coaches. It's kinda sad when all you can look forward to this time of year is coaching changes.

We've certainly regressed the last 2 weeks.
We've played 3 line of scrimmage teams and have been blown out all 3 games (Aggie, UGA, Mizzou).
We look tired and worn down on both lines of scrimmage.

I don't really agree with that.
We have the worst line of scrimmage in the league. But we went from 2-10 to 5-7, so we should be able to get a little better quality up front.

Why should we expect to get a better quality OL next year? Is our NIL funding going to increase? Are we overhauling our scouting and finding diamonds in the rough for cheap? Is either of those things only happening because of Lebby?

In 2024 there were ZERO head coaching changes. This movement was predictable. Tons of coaches like Napier, Pittman, and Freeze on the hot seat. Even in this era teams are going to give coaches more than one season.

We absolutely should. What coach do you expect to win with less money? And again- I asked you yesterday and you didn't respond. If we give Lebby money and you are right he fails anyway but it will make it easier to hire the next guy because we have shown that we have money and support. And if you are wrong we win.
It's not a "defense" it's the reality of this era. And people that don't give like you are partially at fault.

And if he can?t get players up for that game, then he should be fired.
