Advocating for getting rid of Jans is program suicide. Everyone in the country but some state fans think Jans is doing an exceptional job. Us making the final four 29 (twenty nine!) years ago still has us thinking our program is much better viewed than it is.
Cal, pearl, tubby smith, and Jans are the only sec basketball coaches to make ncaa tourney in each of their first 3 seasons according to espn the other night, and ChatGPT just confirmed it. We really unhappy with Jans? Wow

Again, our offense is terrible! It?s 1 v 1, ball screen, and whoever can get an offensive rebound put back. Just on ball screens, no back picks, and absolutely no low post screens. It?s not fun to watch bc it?s boring, and 1 guy has to be red hot for anybody else can score. How many times do you see an entry pass from wing to the low post per game, or high low game? Exactly!

Not sure what to read into (if anything) kenpom ratings this early, but it likes us so far...
#36 overall
#29 offense
#52 defense
Last year...
#33 overall
#24 offense
#46 defense
Our offense has been top 30 now for over a year now.

Kenpom on Iowa st...
#8 overall
#26 offense
#3 defense
We played them in pretty much a road game. It was ugly for sure, but they're a damn good team and it isn't new...
2024 kenpom - 8th
2025 kenpom - 11th

If Ole Miss didn?t hire Beard our fan base would not be antsy with Jans. Beard got them to the sweet 16 in year 2 and they look good again, so I think that contributes to the critics. I love Jans and think he is a great coach, but that small grouping does have a point that as good as Jans is, Ole Miss made a bigger splash and has better results the past 2 years overall.

Beard is absolutely better than Jans. Maybe bill self will choke his wife out and we can hire an elite coach too.
Obviously I don't wish harm on bill self's wife... just making the point that OM only has a truly elite coach bc of his stupidity. They couldn't have hired him in a million years unless that incident happened. And enough time has passed that OM won't keep him long

Making the post season consistently should be our standard. What happens from there happens. Basically, you are saying Stans was more successful because he won 1 more game most of the years he went to the tourney? That's ridiculous. It also took Stans until his 4th season to even make the tourney. Jans has made it every season.
Now - if you want to argue that you don't like Jans style, and it may not be the best fit for us long term, I'm willing to listen. But so far he is meeting or exceeding our standards.

Jans' track record doesn't suggest he needs to change his style.

I know we don?t fall into that grouping, but their are is a large group of State fans that fall into this category and Ole Miss has the same grouping. They measure a coaches success based on how they compare to the other. Ironically though Jans is 5-1 on Ole Miss and 3-1 on Beard.

That shouldn't be the determining factor. It's about can he be even better.

Could be. I just reject the idea that Jans is the problem with our program.

Top 30 based off of last year?s team that had some scorers on it that are no longer here. We lost a lot of veteran players, and replacing them with several players that have no experience at this level. An organized, well run offensive approach can with the ?talent? we have be successful, but it will take a while with our current system. Better hope Hubb really gets hot!

69-46! And hey, that's the 2nd most wins in school history. Dan bolted before he could become number one and have that dubious honor.

What's our record since he left?
