    Tanner Allen

Drafted by the Loco Coconuts in Banana Ball. I think he is the first MSU player drafted in Banana Ball.

Good for him ... he almost always gave it his all. On a separate note, last night I got to swing the bat that sent us to the finals in our only march towards a national championship. It really didn't look like much but after hearing the story behind it I was impressed. The bats we use aren't just chosen at random by the player from a collection of bats.... they are custom engineered through a series of swing photographs and strength, arm length, and several other factors. I had no idea that this much time and detail was put into choosing a bat....apparently the bat chooses the player

Bat science the last 15, 10, and even 5 years is insane.

Imagining Barry Bonds on Steroids with the bat science now - he'd have been at .700+ OBP. Which sounds ridiculous but you just can't let him swing a perfect bat too. People were up in arms about the bowling pin bat but that just scratches the surface of what's going on.

And I thought perfection was an Easton Black Magic 33/30 with a leather wrap grip. Just a little pine tar and grip and rip.

At the Diamond Dawg Classic I noticed quite a few of the players brought their own bats to the game. That says a lot about personal choice for bats.

Keegan James a former MSU pitcher was also drafted by Banana Ball. I believe he is on the same team as TA.

Baseball is becoming more and more about technology and biomechanics. The amount of tech that MSU has for its baseball program is almost overwhelming. We all know about the pitching lab. MSU uses technology for defensive scouting reports and for hitting including video and analytical data. Players get reports post game via text on how they performed that day with video included.

Probably not a fun text to get after you get shelled or you strike out four times but probably pretty awesome after you throw a shutout or hit 3 home runs!

Pitching is ahead of hitting a big as far as tech goes IMO but hitting will catch up eventually. Designing maximized bats is one example.

I was told that if you hit a walk off then they give the player the bat ... Tanner Leggett has two bats from walk off hits and that's where I got to see it. And btw he is doing very well in private coaching today
