I didn't watch the game but if you look at the % stats you would've thought we won. Then when you see they shot 70 FG and we shot 58 and 25-14 FTs well that about explains it there as well as 26 TOs. Then Hub only shooting 5 FTs is a problem also. He needs to shoot at least 10 in a game.

Didn't watch much of the game after I saw that Epps didn't travel with the team, that's concerning moving forward to say the least. Early in the game I looked at the box score and we had, I think 10-11 TOs and it was still the 1st half. I knew then we probably weren't winning. From the play by play it looks like they hit us with multiple 7-0 runs in the last 6 minutes and we were never able to dig out of that hole. Just looking at the box score:
Hubbard was his usual self. I imagine the 7 TOs is partially due to no one else really stepping up and him having to do too much.
We need to get Ballard going. He wasn't good last night.
Delquan Warren probably needs to move down the depth chart. 4 TOs in 16 minutes while only taking 1 shot and having no assists is not what we need out of a backup PG.
SJJ needs to figure it out too. 5 TOs from your senior is not something that needs to be happening.

The problem is and will remain we need another good shooting guard and until that happens the results will be the same!

You're unfortunately correct. We need Epps to get healthy or get over whatever is going on with him. We also need McGhee to show up and really need another player to show up as well.

If SJJ is among the best we have to start, this team is in real trouble. He is an energy, glue type guy to come off the bench and give the starting five a shot in the arm.

But who do you put in that spot?

It's obvious that Jans wants it to be macura. Maybe king grace can be a player this season; he's got some early mins.

Yeah, good point? We only had Hubbard, SJJ and Warren return. It's hoping the Portal evaluations were correct and Jans can indeed mold a team from this group that can win. I took this total rebuild for granted. It's early but, last night and little "D" with 26 TO's is very concerning. You got anything on Epps not making the trip? Perhaps he is still recovering from the concussion at Houston. I was at the UNA game and he didn't look right as he seemed to be getting his jump shot off slowly and got about four blocked. Hope we don't have Clary 2.0 already. 26 TO's is almost unbelievable. It's early of course, but in this portal world, Jans may have his biggest job in front of him with this roster. Hail State!

No disrespect to Shawn Jones because he really does play hard and also does alot of little things that dont show up on the stat sheet, but Ive been saying for years he's not a guy that needs to play a ton of minutes because he just isnt good enough on offense, I even said it this year and got push back.. if our 2nd best player is Shawn Jones its going to be a very long year... he is a good player but definitely not a 2nd option guy.
I also don't have a good feeling about Epps not being available that was very odd and Jans hadnt addressed it yet....Epps just didnt seem real comfortable out there... I hope Im wrong but when Jans was giving him an earful on t.v. the other night I had a bad feeling. I could be completely wrong and hope I am because we need another scoring gaurd. There is no way Hubbard can drag us through the season alone, as we all know you win with gaurd play and from what Ive seen early Hubbard is pretty much a one man show.

It's way too early to put much stock in this, but McGhee has a very impressive +- so far. Jones is a positive also

I agree, its way too early to put stock into anything.. but we can only go off what we've seen, despite what analytics say... and right now from what Ive seen, Im concerned about some things.. but again its very early and we may gel as the season goes on

We beat #21 U. of Memphis by 13 at Memphis last year.

Tell you didn't watch the game without telling me you didn't watch the game. We absolutely dominated that game... they finished on an 11-0 run in the last 2 mins to make it respectable

Yes- this isnt football. Our bball guys have us in the range of competing year after year. I hear Jan gets 10MM and from there we can add a little if it means getting the right piece
The problem is Kentucky and some others start at 20MM

If true, I saw it coming... when Jans chewed him out on t.v. against North Alabama you could see him shut down... I had a feeling right then and there something was going on.
Jans is very intense and will get in your face...that can rub guys wrong... he's lost players early in the season every year he's been with us.. Even though Epps didnt have a great game he was supposed to be our #2 perimeter guy, just a couple years ago at Georgetown he averaged 18 ppg and 5 apg. That will be a big loss if true.

Jans definitely isn't for everyone.

But that again falls on Jans and Co. to recruit better out of the portal. We've now had, presumably if this is true, 4 straight years of finding a guy in the portal who's supposed to be a primary scoring option for us and doesn't even make it to conference play.
