I agree. I think he would do great at either place.

A couple of things and I guess both are LSU related.
I'm confused as to why Tennessee is all of a sudden putting Heupel on the hot seat? He's 43-18 in his career there and after his first year he has been a 9-10 game winner every year. And has a pretty good chance of winning 9-10 games again this year. I know they're a blueblood but after Fulmer they have been wondering in the wilderness until they got Heupel. Kind of makes me wonder if there is something going on behind the scenes there with Gruden trying to get the Tennessee job? I know that's a conspiracy theory but I just can't think of anything else that makes sense. Why would they think a guy like Alex Golesh would be a significant upgrade?
If Heupel lands in LSU's lap after all of this- that's a HUGE win for them.
Speaking of LSU, I noticed today that they immediately have hired a President and a Chancellor which pretty much takes Landry out of the equation. And I'm sure they'll have an AD in place soon. Pretty much the polar opposite of how MSU reacted after Leach passed away.

Very good points. LSU is getting their ducks in a row. And the Huepel stuff is crazy is TN is actually not happy with him. He's been fantastic.

Here's the thing about baseball. We have some guys that played baseball at MSU or were part of MSU that have become highly successful in the game and they have gotten paid.
Of course those types are going to give to MSU baseball. There's a direct connection there. And MSU is a part of the reason for their success.
Some of them donate to other sports at MSU as well.
On top of that, as we have discussed before the stadium will be paid off and the licenses for the seats are about to be redone in the near future. Once that happens, it's even more money for baseball and MSU athletics.

Sumrall is realizing that his ceiling is a lot higher than Kentucky. If Kentucky fires Stoops they're going to end up with some coordinator if I had to guess.

Kelly won games there so they're going to have to try to find someone that can elevate what he did. But firing Kelly makes sense. He was weird fit and they were losing games that they shouldn't have.
So, LSU knows that they have to get it right or they're going to look like clowns. And the first order of business was shutting up Landry.

Answer to your question about TN - is those people are and always have been batshit crazy. Yes, they claim 6 Nattys (but only 1 since integration)- but in their minds they are Alabama's equal or superior. I have friend who is a former D1 HC who went to TN in the 90s as a position coach. He swears they have the most insane fans of any school in the country.

Hang on - LSU isn't acting that fast...

LSU has been working on the Chancellor and President thing for quite some time - it's not like they started looking last week when all this came down. Maybe that's not what you meant but I took it as such.

Several online betting sites have Sumrall as the favorite to get the Auburn job. He would be a fool to leave Auburn for Kentucky. If he can get the school and the boosters on the same page with him Auburn could come back quick.

They won’t be. They haven’t been on the same page for about 4 coaches now.

any school that fires or pushes out a guy that was in the playoff last season deserves what they get
Auburn fired the GusBus thinking they deserved better and they got exactly what they deserved

Agree, TN fan gonna TN Fan and think they deserve better.
Not that I like or agree with Joel Klatt, but did you guys see his recent interview on a show talking about Heupel? Said he is running a Big 12 offense, without giving his defense a break in games.

I actually don't see UK or Auburn being desirable jobs at the moment. UK has all but said their NIL is going to basketball. Auburn is just a hot mess all around with Cohen as AD and I don't see the AU boosters getting on the same page any time soon. At the same time, I am not sold on Sumrall being that great of a coach. He won at Troy but so did other coaches like Neal Brown who did not pan out. He is now winning at Tulane with Willie Fritz's players. I need to see a bit more out of him. I think Golesh would be a better hire than Sumrall for either program.

I do not consider Tennessee a blue blood. I would put them 6th or 7th in SEC. Probably right there with Auburn and I do not consider Auburn a blue blood.

Only 6 teams have won the SEC/National Title in the last 60 years
Bama
Auburn
LSU
Georgia
Fla
Tenn
Those are the Bluebloods of the SEC

A few of names I've been told to watch regarding certain jobs:
LSU: Heupel has a ton of noise right now. But I've also heard Lincoln Riley's name be tossed around on the periphery of things.
Auburn: Kenny Dillingham is the dark horse and has some fans among some prominent boosters. I also keep hearing Brent Key's name come up. If they were to go 11-3 and miss out on the playoffs I've been told he'd be open to make a move.
Arkansas-Alex Golesh has some steam right now along with Ryan Silverfield. I keep waiting for Drinkwitz to be mentioned.
Florida- They've pushed their chips to the middle and are all in on Kiffin. I think they could still get Drink if Kiffin backfired on them.

I remember when Heupel was at Missou and an Elite Dawg said he was a good coach and some Expert said something mean to the smart suggestion.
Everybody here was a Joe Morehead groupie back then.

It was crazy how our fans and the media fell for Moorhead. At first I was hoping it was a nightmare when we hired him and then sports writers saying it was a good hire was one of the most baffling things in sports. He was clearly a fraud if you just knew a little bit about him.

From what I've heard on some podcasts Drink would take the Florida job immediately if offered, but they want Kiffin to tell them no a dozen times before they offer it to him.
And some boosters at Tennessee have royally pissed off Heupel. He saved their program from Coach Asparagus and they are treating him like a failure.

Nothing beats a new Hog hire, as in watching the coach and his family awkwardly call the hogs at a podium.
