Worst NFL defense in recent memory. And FOUR FUMBLES by the receivers. Two by Pickens not lost and then one each lost by Ferguson and Williams. The OL was horrendous. And to further exacerbate it how about the dumbass Pickens taunting penalty. Dak is mired in a $hitshow created by Clown Jerry. I hate it.

My son and i met Jacoby at the Senior Bowl in Mobile. Nice kid. Think he's been with five or six different teams. Nice to see him finally having his day in the sun.

Norvell still has some goodwill there so he could get a look depending on what happens at FSU. I also have heard Golesh's name mentioned there as well as Gus(although I've heard he's done being an HC). Their dream candidate is Drinkwitz but I don't think he'd take it right now unless he was given some really strong NIL assurances. There's also some talk PJ Fleck has some interest in that job.
LSU lost out on Kiffin last week. Jeff Landry screwed them. I've heard Josh Heupel is the dark horse there. I've heard that he's probably candidate 2 behind Kiffin, who's going to tell them no unless Jeff Landry takes a bunch of steps back. I think Drinkwitz would get a strong look here as well if they got past Heupel. Sumrall could get a look here as well. There's a group of NOLA LSU boosters that are pushing him hard. There's also a contingent pushing for Joe Brady, but I don't think they can wait til February to make a hire.
Florida is all in on Kiffin. I'm not completely sure they have a Plan B. I don't think that's any indication of things. I just think they have given Stricklin his marching orders that Kiffin is going to have to turn them down multiple times before they move on. Drinkwitz is probably candidate 2 here. If it gets past that.....maybe Jedd Fisch??
Franklin and Va Tech are wrapping up negotiations and I think they announce him in the next few weeks pending everything gets approved.
Part of me thinks Sexton is using VT as leverage for Franklin. Apparently he?s asking for something obscene like $30 million in NIL guarantees.

if the 30 million is over a 2 year period, then sounds right for a coach wanting to quickly update his roster. But if 1 year, that is crazy.
There was a post on our 247 site, copying over from the Arkansas board, where their moderator/reporter talked about a booster meeting Saturday and that they need more guaranteed money for lots of things, not including NIL.

I think that most realize that Landry saying stupid things (as too often the case) really screwed the situation up totally fubared. LSU is without a President, AD and FB coach and Landry has really made things much, much worse with his little man syndrome. Either LSU pays through the nose or they get a nobody that is a current coordinator, not many good coaches want to face the issues that are in place here.

Wonder if this could actually play in their favor if Ole miss is in the playoffs. LSU can disguise the process that they are hiring the president and AD and that keeps fans at bay for a month. It would be just like those cajuns to screw it up and it fall into perfect timing.
Florida though - if they are not announcing someone in mid december it becomes obvious.

I believe Lane will be in Florida next year. Either as Florida's head coach or the head coach of the Dolphins.
Lane "loves Oxford and OM" but still hasn't signed that pot of gold extension on his desk yet.

Texas Tech did it- and look where they are this year

Jimmy will not let him do that. That is cheating Jimmy out of his cut of that raise, which could be 2-3 additional millions more per year. I mean why would Jimmy advise Lane to sign an extension on November 4th for 12 when he might could sign one on January 4th for 14. I mean if money does not matter then it will not matter if he waits 60 more days to sign the extension. You can look at it both ways.
If you had to make me bet today, Lane is in Oxford next year. Especially if he makes the playoffs this year. Now if Florida beats him in two weeks and we beat him on Black Friday, my opinion changes. I just do not see them losing 2 of the last 3.

I can kinda see Franklin being an auburn fit.

I definitely think his agent, I believe Jimmy, will force Va Tech's hand on some things they are asking for due to Auburn opening up. I don't think Franklin fits there at all though. He doesn't have the temperament to deal with that fan base. He's a little like Hugh in the fact that he needs to be liked. You either need a coach like Malzahn, who's just kind of oblivious to the noise(Drinkwitz comes to mind), or you need a coach like who just wins at an insanely high clip so it keeps the natives at bay. Kenny Dillingham would be scary there honestly. But I don't think he looks back on his time there very fondly.

Lsu is not going to pay a huge contract with a huge buyout contract. With the last two Coaches and buyouts have cost them. Times have changed for them. I have a friend who is close to this situation.

If that's true. It's honestly the way coaches have to go now. They have to look at security of the program instead of massive bank rolling their pockets.

agree. I meant more of VaTech or Arkansas doing that for one year 30 million. Does not sound like them.
Arkansas boosters do not seem too engaged into paying football NIL either, but they will pay a fortune for basketball .
from 247 arkansas writer, they need to come up with another 20-30 million , not NIL, to get things up to date for football. Coaching salaries, off field personnel etc.
So if a 30 million NIL on one year in addition to 20-30 for other costs, I don't see Arkansas making that commitment this year unless it is the coach the boosters love. Franklin is not in the position to get that energy.

Sexton makes 4% for each coach he represents- which is at least 2/3 of college football plus other sports. So its 40K per million

I can see the TN coach moving there or at least leveraging that. Tn fans getting big for their britches again thinking it is 1999.

Good points here. Franklin at AU is an oil and water situation. I for one don?t think that they will hire any of their top candidates. Guys know it?s a madhouse there. Going to be fun to watch though. These Cohen hostage videos are a real treat.
