Another returnee from last season Chandler Prater starting to pick things up. A couple of freshmen have been making baskets as well. Davidson playing well.

I hate to say it, but much to the surprise of our own fans, we're not that bad.

I hope you are right I just don't see it. we will find out when SEC play starts.

That was a good win. Davidson is a good team, they brought back 4 starters from a good team last year. I love our Freshman, Lampley and Francis are amazing. Madison Francis had 6 blocks, thats insane. Lampley had 11 points and 6 rebounds... we have really good Freshman. Favour finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds and Destiny Mcphaul had 20 points.
Not sure what made Purcell schedule a tough opener like that but I like the win.. we definitely need Saniyah King back

99 that was actually a good win. Davidson is experienced. We are not but I like what I saw from some of our girls. Yes we have things to work on but that was a good opening win

Four of five starters are seniors and the other is a junior. Not saying anything more than that just clarifying. Madison Francis is an amazing freshman. What we think we'll accomplish this season will take more than this game to evaluate. There are both opportunities to improve and concerns about production lost. Much much too early to know how it will go.

First, I was pleasantly surprised with the number and enthusiasm of the attending fans. I was a little concerned about how it would be.
Overall it was a good win. Davidson did a great job of maintaining patience on the offensive end and making the defenders work. Davidson relies a lot on the perimeter shots and MSU held them to 4-14. MSU also out rebounded them 42-27.
In the first half MSU relied way too much on midrange jump shots. The second half they did much better using their length and strength to overpower Davidson. J Lampley, especially is much stronger than I expected.
Ball handling is going to be a major issue if S King isn’t capable of being a primary ball handler. Having D McPhaul as point takes away too much from the offense. T Crisp also needs to be able play away from the ball.
I’d start M Francis. K Richardson has a role but primary post scorer is not it. She can offer toughness, physical play, and energy in spurts. I’d prefer her coming off the bench. Add also J Lampley and T Crisp (if S King can be the primary ball handler) and I’d feel better with our ability to maintain scorers on the floor at all times.
Again, this team has a long way to go to even consider postseason. However the next couple of games can help roles fall into place.

True but we have 9 new players, Davidson brought back 4 starters from last year and they finished 3rd in their conference, we are a new team..thats what I was referring to

Good start for our young team! They are gonna get much better as the season goes along. 9 new players with some talented freshmen.

Freshman Madison Francis has been showing incredible athleticism, a very explosive, quick vertical leaper. She's also, listed (ncaa stats) with the 2nd most blocked shots in the nation through game 1 of the season. Also, she dunks. Favour Nwaedozi is another outstanding athlete among these newcomers, she dunks as well. Throw out a Faith Wylder mention...very athletic 6-6 player on the roster, noted rim protector coming out of high school, all reports she can get up as well.
