    Steve Robertson on OOB

Lebby is not getting fired. He is not getting fired for many reasons but Steve said obviously you do not fire a first time head coach that has shown vast improvement in year two. We are not replacing Lebby with an upgrade this season. The coaching market will be chaos within the next month. Other shoes are going to drop. We are a few boneheaded decisions by coaches and players from being 7-1. It?s a learning curve for Lebby and we will see what he has really learned in year three.

Now here is what got my attention. With all the chaos coming into the SEC with coaching changes that plays to our advantage to have a third year coach. And, this is huge too, the portal this season will be absolute bonkers with all the coaching turnover. Steve said we could really load up on some talented guys in the portal bc it will be saturated.

Gotta say I can't refute this reasoning.... I'm as pissed as anyone but I can look into this same crystal ball and have come to the same conclusion
OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) - Ole Miss campus police ask students to behave at future baseball games following a recent incident.
The university said students were reportedly throwing rocks at Georgia baseball players during last weekend's series.

I just hope he isn't Moorhead stubborn and think that everything he did was correct. Those 4th quarter coaching decisions were pretty much the worst possible decisions at every turn. Hopefully he looks in the mirror and learns from it. He can be a great coach if he uses those lessons and improves.

Moorhead's biggest issue was not learning from his mistakes and it looks like he still hasn't from his time at Akron.

Barring an off field issue, I don?t think anyone with even the smallest amount of sense thinks he?s in any danger of being fired.

People can get mad and throw a fit- but last year simply didnt count against the guy. He got here in December and had to build a staff and began working on getting some players. We had almost no talent left on the team when he arrived. We spent very little last season on a roster (compared to the rest of the SEC). Spent the year installing his system and program. Lebbo started in a hole. He had less talent for 2024 when he got here than Croom had when he arrived.

Now this season- we have improved the roster quite a bit but it still lacks depth and has some holes. We are vastly improved. This is basically his Y1. Huntzler looks like a DC now that he has some talent to work with. We just scored 38 on Texas who had only given up more than 21 once before Saturday. Yes its frustrating not to stack some wins but it is what it is.

The program is headed in the right direction. In this Era of Portal/NIL- being competitive is about all we can ask for with our wallet that we have.

Same exact roster with same coaching staff is 7-1 with a really good LT or better special teams or no injuries or a few better decisions by Lebby/Players. That tells me we are close. If we were 6-2 or 7-1, Lebby would be coach of the year and a candidate for one of these job openings.

We have to improve the O-line. Lebby needs to improve game management decisions. And we need to continue to have stability. The playoffs will be expanding to 16 teams. We can make the playoffs with Lebby as our coach 1 out of every 4-5 years. I truly believe that. I don't need to see another win this year, but I hope we do mainly to shut up the critics, improve morale and help with retaining and obtaining players.

LT, G, another CB, 2 more DE plus quality Depth.

100% True. There is no way to erase the years of completely amateur administration and leadership from alumni and AD personnel during that time. We are just in the last year beginning to dig out of this hole. Its not over, not even close, but there are positive signs and we have to keep gaining ground.

Who on earth thought he was getting fired? Surely Bo was not peddling that?

We are in every game. Assuming we don't go off a cliff in November, termination is not even a discussion.

Agree with most. Lebby has brought big improvement to where we are mad at being 4-4 (rightfully so too). He has to be open to changing and learning too. A person doing a job for the first time who isn't willing to learn from mistakes is doomed to failure.

If Lebby is successful down the road here, we need to tweak his contract so he don't bolt easily. We stick with him to let him grown up on our dime, we need something in return down the road.

Yeah- depth in the trenches period is the key for any team. Texas was subbing their entire DL on drives to keep from getting worn down. We really cant do that and keep playing at a high level. And depth on the OL for us does not exist

Lebby's ceiling is high if he either gets an OC that he trusts so he can be a true head coach or at least learns how to be a Head Coach while calling the offense. The Texas game was lost on Lebby not thinking big picture. Without us screwing up clock management, Texas had no chance to score enough with the time remaining.

That game was purely lost by coaching.

3rd year Lebby will get to essentially start over again. New QB out of the Portal. New WR corps. New DBs. New Oline. Gonna be fun rebuilding the rebuild.
