At 4-8 you have to consider it. But the right answer is mixing up responsibilities to a better balance on offense. Lebby is not handling the current responsibilities well so he needs to delegate a couple things away. That's not necessarily playcalling but something if this doesn't change.
We're not 4-8 yet.
WR room will be loaded again next year for guys who see how much your stock can move in his offense.
Hutzler is no longer awful as a DC but jury is still out. I don't think the 45 rests squarely on him, but we have made two bad QBs look serviceable. Maybe it's jimmies and joes again. I think we'll end up keeping him short of giving up 40+ every game from here on out.
We can't run back the same stupidity next year. That's what people don't want. Fired is harsh and an over correction, but the point remains there needs to be tweaks. A few coaching tweaks and we're 7-1.
- Not playing Fluff late against Aggy
- Understanding the game flows of Tenn/Aggy better and not passing when you should gash a run.
- The Florida debacle.
- The hurry up 4th down when review likely gives us the first down and playing against the defense strength.
- Consistently setting your kicker up for failure by putting him on the right hash.
- Punting to the best return man in the country.
- Bad game clock management
There's a laundry list of problems that some delegation of duties and tweaks in philosophy make us 7-1. Hell - if Albert doesn't get hurt against Tennessee then the Aggy game is also completely different. So another piece is OL depth.
The people who see us as so close are right. The people who see us as pissing a lot away are right. If we keep pissing things away - it's harder to believe that we'll fix the things that we're not close on.

That game was purely lost by coaching.
I think it is more like a bonehead on defense roughed the QB on a 4th down play that would have given us the ball on the 38 yard line of Texas. With a huge shift in momentum at that point we take a few minutes off the clock maybe score a touchdown and seal it right there or kick 3 making it 20 point lead with about 8 minutes to go in the game. The Texas players are then thinking about getting on the jet and heading back to Austin.
Steve even said that roughing the passer penalty changed the game drastically. Without that penalty we were in the driver?s seat.

If Reese played healthy all through Tennessee we win that game and make the A&M game respectable. But keeping Fluff healthy probably wins us Florida and Texas. Fluff is a stud. We are going to see just how valuable he is Saturday.

Good take by Steve and obvious to anyone with any common sense. Also nice to see some MSU media in our corner, Robbie was showing his ass Sat night arguing with fans on twitter and complaining about how much money he's spent to go to games.

Yeah. And he'll be complaining about MSU not giving him media access in the spring and wonder why.

Robbie seems to act as if he lives in a tiny world.

It was a bone head play but was kind of a touchy foul. Still, is that a defense that has been on the field the entire 2nd half getting tired and lazy. After our last TD to go up 17 in the 4th, we might win by purely kneeling the ball and punting out of bounds. That would give Texas at least 60 or so yards per possession with roughly 5 minutes to score 17 points. There is a reason that the team up 17 points with 10 minutes left were 240-0. Lebby had to help Texas win with bone head coaching.

You'd think he'd eventually grow up. Brandon Walker already has the Barstool vibe covered for us, would prefer he just be an adult and evolve his brand.

Has anyone found a video of the "roughing the passer call"? I can't find one. TV coverage also cut off the replay before the hit happened so you never got to see it a second time live.
"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""

I would rather him hire a game manager than an OC. I want Lebby calling the plays.

Lebbo started in a hole. He had less talent for 2024 when he got here than Croom had when he arrived.
Now this season- we have improved the roster quite a bit but it still lacks depth and has some holes. We are vastly improved. This is basically his Y1. Huntzler looks like a DC now that he has some talent to work with. We just scored 38 on Texas who had only given up more than 21 once before Saturday. Yes its frustrating not to stack some wins but it is what it is.
The program is headed in the right direction. In this Era of Portal/NIL- being competitive is about all we can ask for with our wallet that we have.
I feel like I have to point out that Leach came on in nearly the exact same scenario (actually got hired in January) and yet you used 2020 against him all the time.

They hardly showed it during the game. It looked like a flag against old Tom Brady or Mahomes. Very slight bump that wouldn't even been considered hitting the QB prior to 2000. Basically gave the refs the opportunity to throw a flag rather than an obvious penalty. Still, unless you are Bama/UGA/LSU, you have to expect the refs to do some helping in that situation. You can't give them the chance to throw a flag without being obvious in helping a team like the Eagles getting a first down after losing a fumble.

No- Leach was left with some very good players from Jovester- especially on the defensive side of the ball. Jovester also provided him with very good pieces in the recruiting class for 2020. Their situations were very different from a talent left to them perspective

That's true, he was left with some talent on both side of the ball. This staff had a gulf south roster last season.

Robbie is an arrogant jackass in real life. Someone close to me interacts with him often, and I've heard enough to know. Not surprised he's the same on Twitter.

No way we should be considering firing Lebby.
We will probably win 2 more this year!
He?s putting us i to position to win.

Leach did not get a spring 20 due to Covid. Then he had an SEC only season with no non conf games .
All that was used against him here for sure, in people posting and ignoring this.

This is funny to me too. Dude looks like he hasn?t had a bath or washed his hair in 2 years, works for Genespage of all places and couldn?t get a job as a dishwasher and they take his opinions on State sports to heart. He tries to be Joe Cool Hippie from 1969 and to be impartial and objective!
Robbie is a FAN of the team he covers. He feels the same pain we do when he watches the shit show continue. Hippie Boy sucks up to whoever the coach is to get access for sure! Remember he was deeply in love with Cohens!

Yep! In the COVID year, Leach won 3 SEC games out of 10 played. Ya boy Jeffy has won 0 out of 12 he has coached in! He is a damn candidate for the MSU Hall of Fame will all these ?close? losses!

and most of us wouldn't be alive if we had gone through what Steve has endured. go talk to him sometime and hear his story.
