I actually have started to not mind the old time Ole Miss fans. It's these new age fans from the north that are just god awful. Like when it was just TX and GA kids that were going it wasn't a big deal because they had been doing it for 50 years. It was a joke and they were in on the joke. They didn't care. Now it's these kids from NJ, NY, PA, etc that have no clue about the rivalry or about SEC Football. They think OM has always been a king of college football and don't realize that they were a middling program 6 years ago.
I really don't pay OM that much attention anymore. I used to really care and get really fired up about just hating everything about them, but I really don't anymore. We have far bigger problems to solve on our end. I worry about those before I worry about OM. I also am not scared of OM. They are not some big bad program just because Kiffin is there. They are the same OM program they always have been. Really good offense, iffy defense, they'll win a couple they shouldn't, and lose a couple they shouldn't.

Their downturn in the cycle is not far away.

Correct. That's the thing. All this is cyclical. My personal guess......their downturn is next year. They put a lot of trust in Simmons being what they needed him to be and he got hurt combined with he wasn't playing well and Chambliss was playing amazing. Chambliss is out of eligibility, Simmons will transfer, and they will need a QB. Now, a lot of people are going to say, "Well every QB is going to be lining up to play for Lane." And while that may be true, Lane has also shown that he's not scared to play the hot hand, no matter how many stars are behind that guy's name and how much he is getting in NIL. That is going to cause a lot of pause to some of these high market value QB's that will enter the portal. They and their representatives are going to want assurances that they will be the starter no matter what.

also reminds me of a quote Mullen once said or maybe he was quoting Urban. That a college coaching job has to change every so many years just for a fan base to get new energy , and a coach to leave on a respected term.

Correct. I think you just saw that happen at Penn St. It happened here with Mullen in 2016. He knew it and our fans knew. Funny enough it actually happened twice with Mullen, 13 and 16, and both times he won the Egg Bowl and perception completely flipped.
