I tried to to find more recent data, but the latest I found ws for the 2022 fiscal year for top revenue producing NCAA sports. Here goes:
#! Far and away- Football.
#2 Men's Basketball.
#3 Hockey
#4 Baseball
Not only is baseball #4 in 2022 only Football and Men's Basketball make any $ at most schools. Without football most other programs including other men's programs and all women's programs could not exist.
How many baseball fans can tell me who won the NCAA Hockey championships the last couple of years? Just like very few college hockey fans can tell who won recent baseball championships.
Football revenue (ticket sales including Seating type fees and TV revenue) wag the dog. Some minor men's and women's sports are on thin ice with the new revenue sharing plan. There are already commercials being run promoting Congress to get involved to make changes to save women's sports.

Would it mean we are going to be a threat in the SEC....absolutely not. But it WOULD raise a few eyebrows and put Lebby and MSU back into relevance as a team that could potentially be back on the rise. Would also help recruiting tremendously, as well as support.
I will be glued to the game for the first time in multiple seasons, and if we win I'll be back on board the wool train. I/We just need someone hope and optimism.
As for Ole Miss....we shouldn't even be comparing ourselves to them at this time, and maybe never again. They are just in a different stratosphere in terms of money, support, and potential at this time. It kills me to admit it, but it's true. Wins like Saturday can help us get back on a path to that level, but as of now we are much closer to USM than we are to Ole Miss....so we need to find a way to win this game Saturday. To me it's the biggest game in years for State. (So I'm fully prepared for a bed shitting disappointment haha)
Big win?.pull rope or get out of the way! Hailstate!

CD is both realistic and hopeful in his post. If you want carbonated sunshine pumped up your ass, maybe you need a new a team to root for...because if a healthy dose of perspective triggers you, then you came to the wrong place, bud....

Did you enjoy the game? I hope you did

Keep winning and we'll be fine. There was plenty of positive publicity after the game.

Absolutely. Did I miss the part where I said something that wasn't factual?
