ASU at home is a huge game and opportunity. ASU will be ranked and we beat them we should be 4-0 heading into UT which is also in a weird spot - new QB on the road. ASU is just a huge tone setter for the year.

So Vegas has projected at least a 50% improvement over last year. Life is good.

He will have to be a tough one also because Dart could take a lick and get right back up

I do think Dart was an overrated QB by the average racist…I mean rebel, but that dude was tough as nails. Played through a lot of injuries and dings.

Man, I am surprised that it's that heavy. I think 3.5 wins was a pretty easy line for us. I think we're going to win 3 or 4. Hopefully I'm surprised but gun to my head, I'm betting the under.

Man, sharp money on the Buzzards? Seems we should cover that relatively easy.

Still at 3-9. Hard bet. Zero downside risk. Very minimal upside opportunity. One more win max. Lebby has a lot to prove.

3-9 and the buzzards will be circling Starkville. That would likely be USM, Northern Illinois, and Alcorn State. That would essentially be zero accomplishment in year 2. 4 should absolutely be the minimum for earning year 3, but truthfully, 5 wins would actually reflect improvement. Gotta beat somebody with a pulse.

In theory- Im right there with you. What we think we know says we should win the game by 17 or more. Buttttttttttttttttt
Advantage Nasty Bunch:
We are on the road
We have alot of new starters
We sucked last year
Their new coach brought 1/4 of the team with him from the previous school
It's their Super Bowl
Advantage us:
We should be more physical
Our RB group is Top 1/3 of the SEC
Its going to super hot and we should have more depth
Experienced QB
2nd season for our HC
Our NIL dwarfs them
I hope it drops more but if it doesnt I will buy it down and take State -9.5. We should wear them down and pull away late. Should be a good $100 to start the season.

All true. They were awful last year. Much worse than us. I don?t know much about their portal players. Marshall was decent last year.

One thing with USM no one thinks about. Bringing in new coaching and all those players from Marshall will take a little time to come together. All that oneness of Marshall group coming in will not gel with any core USM guys there (if there are any). Even though we heavy portal, not all from same place especially same as new coach. I don't think USM will be all inspired as we think.

Yeah, if it was a Jeff Bower team loaded with guys passed over by State, OM and Bama I'd be a lot more worried about this game. Right now the Marshall guys don't give a shit about playing us. Hell, the USM alums care way more about this game than Huff does right now.
I also think we get a heavy dose of our new ground game. If we are moving the ball comfortably on the ground Lebby will keep Shapen healthy. There will be some deep shots but Lebby isn't opening the playbook if we can pound the ball.
We win this game by two touchdowns, maybe three.

I am excited to see our run game do some damage.
Been a while since we had two really good backs, well we did have Johnson and Marks in the flats passing game for loss of 1 but not counting those years.

First play from scrimmage in Hattiesburg will either be a run up the middle for no gain or a pass in the flat to a back for a loss of 2. Book it!

If that team ?over theyahh? gets 8,,,,that means they don?t make playoff......If Dogs can?t break 4....then that?s the next best thing...

Not sure us having a lot of new starters is an advantage for USM relatively speaking since they will likely have as many or more new starters on the field as we will.

Update. Our line vs USM is back up to 12.5 on ESPN.
