2014 Auburn- Magical day. Also my sons first game at Scott Field
1980 State vs Bama- didnt totally understand the impact of it at the time being young but my Dad continued to tell me "State just dont beat Bama" the whole 2nd half kinda let me in on it.
1997 over Bama in Tuscaloosa- Bama fans were losing their minds as JJ ran over their ass that day.
1991 Texas- We were already excited with Jackie becoming HC- and then he beat a Blue Blood his 1st season. So much hope and optimism that day
Good ones 34. I was there as a senior student in 91. TX national TV, bull castration and the mad dawgs on kickoff team. It was awesome. Jackie revived us like no coach has ever done in game 1.
1980 was just a kid but I remember being at a cookout and all the MSU parents running around yelling the score. I knew it was big but didn't realize the gravity of it.
I wasn't at 14 Aub but I was juiced watching on TV. Knowing in 4th quarter I was watching #1 MSU was surreal. Sad that Jack wasn't there to witness and say our #1 ranked Bulldogs. Damn what a game/day.
97 - JJ one of my fav all time RB. Just a bruiser that no one wanted to tackle. Bully ball at its best in 97-98. He just demoralized everyone.
Great thread - need some positive mojo heading into fall.

What great memories- was at the Nike Clinic in B'ham after Pine Box took the Auburn job. The DL coach and I were about to fight in the Irish Pub in Mountainbrook because I was making fun of them. The other coaches dragged him out the door as I led my only Hotty Toddy cheer in my life. Good times

As a student the florida 04 game is hard to beat...just from the sheer shock of what took place that day
But a very close 2nd is bama in 07
I was there for A&M and auburn in 14 and that auburn game definitely had a different feel that whole day.
My first game to attend as a kid was in 97 against UCF. Every play for us was Hank Flick saying "J.....J......Johnson!" and every play for them "Culpepper's pass". Maybe not a unique or special game other than being my first but it definitely added to my fandom. I'd always had a love for state but actually going to a game took it to another level.

1A: 2014 vs. Auburn. It was the biggest stage in modern MSU football history and we lived up to it. Often, we have failed on that stage but on that day we did not! Dan's emotions post game sure seemed genuine!
1B: 2011 Gator Bowl vs. Michigan: I know Michigan was down but to throttle one of the biggest programs in the nation was awesome! Not only that, New Year's Day in 80 degree sunshine and then the day before to witness Michigan's band playing Hail to the Victors in the parade! By far, my favorite bowl trip of all time!

99 Egg Bowl. The Kang gave a 10 year old me 2 sideline passes for any game I wanted when my Mom took me to hear him speak at Mobile Country Club. Took my grandpa (RIP), we stormed the field and I got barreled over by Dontae Walker. Awesome memory.

1998 - first time I ever helped tear down the goal post. I actually have the LB sign where the LBs were designated to sit on the bench.
1999 - next time that I tore down the goal post. It capped the first and only season that I went to every game. My wife and I were one of the few that stayed for the entire game at Auburn. Guys we road with had the Suv on the sidewalk in front of the gate blasting Bad to the Bone (wouldn't be allowed post 9-11).
2000 UF - another goal post. I helped tear down 3 goal posts but never got a piece of one.
2000 Snow Bowl. That game was like a delirium dream. My buddy got the fullback's gloves he threw into the stands after. Ended up in some cheap motel because you couldn't drive across the bridge to get back to MS.

The ones that immediately come to mind:
1. 99 Battle for the Golden Egg. The Catch, The Kick, The Pick, The Kick.
2. 98 Arkansas. Nuff said.
3. 14 Auburn. Nuff said.
4. 2000 Florida. 3rd and 57. "My name's Willie Blade. Don't nobody block Willie Blade."
5. 07 Bama. AJ's Pick 6.
6. 09 Battle for the Golden Egg. Our OL bitch slapped their badass DL and the D wrecked Snead.
7. 10 Gator Bowl. Beating the hell out of a legendary Michigan program.
8. 99 Peach Bowl. Clemson got REKT.
9. 99 LSU. Roll into the endzone, Rod Gibson!

2000 UF, they had -75 yards rushing on the day. It has to be a record low all time. Our DL was wrecking people back then.
3 - 99 teams in your list; as Corso said then we were one player away from competing for a NC, that team was really, really good.

I was there in 99- messed up leaving that one out. That was magical. Was on about the 20 yard line home side- so watching CJ goes for the pylon was awesome

Pretty sure we were seated in roughly the same area. Probably saw you and never knew it.

Crazy how good that 98-00 stretch was. We'd have beaten that damned Tennessee team in 98 easily had JJ been healthy. As it was, it took the refs and a Peerless Price out of bounds 'TD' to beat us.
As for 99, I think part of it was just the nature of the Cardiac Dawgs. Comebacks are always memorable and enjoyable. Looking back, that offense would've been so much better had Amedee not been so stubborn about that stupid three headed monster RB committee. Should've just fed Dicenzo over and over again. I know he was just a true sophomore, but he'd looked good as JJ's backup in 98. No reason to give Chris Rainey so many carries.
If only Fant had been about 3 years older. What could've been.

1996 Bama. Freezing cold but watching State beat Bama for the first time in my life was incredible. Bama always seem to steal the game right at the end so many times back then that it was a shock when we won.

So true on 99. Rainey should have been 2nd or 3rd back. Miller was just a gamer. One of my favorites. So right on Fant, dang another so close. Fant on 98-2000 and we win something big.

I would add 1996-2000. In that time span we beat either the SEC East and SEC West champ four times and one of the time we didn't do it - was because MSU won the SEC West. The other season was 1999.
That was Sparky Woods that wouldn't start Dontae or Dicenzo over Rainey. If he had we probably wouldn't have had such a memorable season. LOL.
At least Fant beat Eli in 2001. So he has that at least.

Yeah. When Alabama had the ball on their final drive I was like "Yeah- they're about to get in position to win the game with a 56 yard field goal with their back up kicker." And then I think Paul Lacoste sacked Freddie Kitchens and I was like "Oh shit. They're out of field goal range. They're going to have to convert a 4th and 17" or whatever it was. Then the Kitchens threw a pretty bad pass that bounced off of their WR who I think was from Clarksdale if it's who I'm thinking it was and that did it. Of course, I was immediately looking for phantom flags for pass interference or illegal mouthpiece on 28 for Mississippi State or whatever else the refs make up against us to bail them out.

It's an interesting what if. But honestly I really think just starting Dontae and Dicenzo might have been enough alone to beat Alabama and Arkansas. It's not like Madkin was that bad- at least not until 2001 anyway. I mean- he made some pretty impressive plays that were a big reason why we beat Arkansas in 1998. I think Rainey might have been a walk-on.

I wish there was footage of the 1987 Egg Bowl out there. I've heard and think I may have seen the Jesse Anderson TD and I would like to see some of the catches that Fred Hadley made in that game that pretty much sealed it.
