OK, 68 Days Until Football
Anyone got anything informative, hopeful, or interesting to share or do many even care? Family's approximately 55th consecutive year of 8 to 12 season tickets (Gluttons for punishment**) and can barely see throough my ole "Maroon Colored Glasses", but here goes. Ceiling 6-6, floor 2-10, 0-8 again. We have only hired two assistant coaches to be HC's (we are cheap and learn little from past failures), in my MSU life that were very successful, Tyler and Mullen and I am really worried about Lebby and "staff".

Agree I am concerned about Lebby as well. This is an important year. He must show improvement and like he has ability to lead and get some momentum heading into next year.
6-6 is ceiling but if we win 6 then I can talk myself into 1-2 more wins as well. It would be ASU type turnaround which I don't see but really hoping for 5-6 somehow.

I just don?t see much improvement on the horizon in relation to wins and losses. Defense was a joke last year and what little improvement it showed on the tail end did not warrant keeping Hutzler around. Yet, he is back. We will not score 40 a game against real competition which is what will be required to win games. I hope and pray I am wrong, but I see 3-4 wins tops. I don?t see how we can scratch out 6 with our overall lack of talent and brutal schedule. I need to see something that makes me believe the program is moving up ward instead of staying stagnant.

Unless we see a MASSIVE influx of money and a real commitment to building up that program it will be Vandy level bad for the foreseeable future. Our “big money” boosters for football just really aren’t all that.

Since portal and NIL really don't care anymore

Apparently, the school and fans have given up on football so nothing to talk about. I'll enjoy watching our future conference games against Troy on the CW though.

I really don't understand hiring Hutzler to begin with given he knew little to nothing about being a DC. Sounded like Lebby just hiring a buddy. But to double down and keep him made even less sense. Apparently we are counting on a couple of analysts to try and keep Hutzler on the right track. Good luck with that.

Better hope you’re wrong or you can kiss baseball and basketball goodbye too. Can’t afford it without SEC check.

Don't sweat it, we not leaving the SEC. Even if we tank in football, SEC needs us even more then. They gonna need more than one Vandy. Why do you think Vandy stayed all these years.
Don't you know, half the teams loose every weekend. A successful coach told me that once. All SEC teams can't win, someone gonna take the bullet for the blue bloods. It might be us but it don't have to be. They've tried for 100 years to make us that and we just don't give in totally to it although we have taken our share of BS from head office.

Thas why us and other smaller schools need to really target one major sport and become a powerhouse in that sport, IS Kentucky and USCe in both BBs.

Ole Miss doesn't seem to be struggling targeting multiple sports. Fairly certain they just won 9 in Football, Made it to the S16 in mens and women's basketball, hosted a regional in baseball, and made it to the world series in softball. Hell, they made the semis in golf and had a guy win the national championship.
You don't have to target one sport. Like I've said thousands of times though, Ole Miss gets it and they all row in the same direction. They know that being good at football lends itself to being good at the other sports. I know this will shock some people, but other athletes take in the scene at football games for their recruiting visits. So a full stadium and an incredible atmosphere in football helps you get talent in other sports.

It's football time! Those of you thinking football at MSU is dead for us are delusional and do know football. One signing class can change everything. We're going bowling this year!

The resources are there to be competitive in football.
The primary difference in us and Mississippi is we hired leach and they hired kiffin.
