Agree. Maybe a small chance with Siary.

Scary gonna be a lower round guy but he has to go because if he stays he will get nothing but a twix and a capri sun next year in the draft. However- with our infusion of money into the baseball program- maybe we make it worth his time. That's a tough question considering the arm talent we have as SP's right now. We have 4 Dude's fighting for 3 weekend spots next year and that doesnt even include Scary. McPh/Burns/Foster/Val are all weekend guys.

I think you write Foster and Val in ink. Burns is going to have to get better command. I expect McPh to make a big jump. 200k seems reasonable for Scary. He would be the best weekday pitcher in the conference + a great weekend insurance policy.

Kevin Mannell got invited to the MLB combine last year. So, I wouldn't say that it's a slam dunk that he goes.

agree and we arent going to go with 3 LH'ed SP's on the weekend. So either Scary or McPh will throw on the weekend. Burns has top talent- he just needs innings. I just think looking at the situation- Scary takes the money and goes pro. If we double what MLB offers up to 300K- he would be crazy to leave and we would be better for it

If Siary comes back I would say the odds of him being in the weekend rotation are very high. Along with that, I would say the odds of McPherson being in the bullpen when everything shakes out is high as well. I think he will have a career arc similar to Landon Sims where he becomes our closer.relief ace and then transitions to a starting pitcher his junior year.

If he makes 200K even he would come out better financially as a senior sign. The thing is his spin on his breaking balls is pretty elite and that's going to be very attractive to a MLB organization. Ben Davis to me is in the same boat as far as being draftable but with an obviously different skill set.

Davis and Williams are guys that are coming back from major arm issues that finally got well. They arent high on draft boards because of that. But they will be drafted and be gone

This class must be weaker than I thought if he is. I think he is 6-10 at best. His K/BB ratio isn't great and he struggled as a starting pitcher against SEC competition.

They aren't high because they have a lot of questions and need more development. Williams is a relief only guy and his fastball is pretty straight. They won't be drafted higher than the 5th round unless some team falls in love with them for some reason. There's just a lot of guys in the draft like them.

Personally, I would rank them: 1. Siary 2. Davis 3. Williams

I'll be shocked if Scary is drafted in the Top 15 rounds. I dont see Davis or Williams making it out of the Top 10 rounds

PSA -Nate Williams is 23 years old, 4 months shy of 24. Also, he was out of action for 2 years.

I wonder if you can be drafted at that age. Just 7 months younger than Stone. And baseball has a prejudice versus big boys with Arm trouble. He seems max effort.

I hope he is drafted, lives the dream.

If this occurs, we should be able to give both more than what
they?ll get being drafted. To me, this is a ?no brainer? for them
    to return.

    **I?m referring to Coach?s comment at 10:16.

This is where NIL has changed things and roster limits. If he wants to go pro then he absolutely should go. And I wouldn't blame him because of his age.

However, he could make more money potentially by coming back to MSU. With how some of our pitchers are looking early this summer plus the players we are adding in the portal it makes me wonder how much he would really pitch?

None are rated in MLB.com's top 200 which puts them outside of the top 5 rounds. I could see Davis and Williams being taken in the top 10. You said top 5 earlier for Davis.

Siary has more flexibility because he can start or relieve. He doesn't throw as hard but he has good spin on his breaking balls and MLB values that as much as velocity these days.

Of note- Davis is the only one of the three who put out an announcement that he was coming back and I doubt he would do that if he was dead set on MLB and going pro. He also is an in state guy who playing baseball for MSU is a dream of his. That's not to say that he won't go pro or someone won't draft him or anything like that. Just that there are some other factors at play here.

You are right about NIL a player can make more money at school than a pro signing bonus. There is no slam dunk on a player going pro anymore period!

I'm going to play Selmon's advocate here. Why would we want to pay a 5th year Senior $200k when we could pay a sophomore $150k for his sophomore year and $250k for his junior year if he is worth it? Just trying to rationalize where we get our best value. And by WE, I mean the program because it would be hard financially for me to buy the kid a Triple Stack at Wendy's!😳

Our football supporters realize we will never win a Championship in SEC football. It was an amazing thing just to see us go against UT and play well in our only appearance. We actually led in the 4th qtr. against the Vols before Tee Martin torched us. In today's environment, we won't return to Hotlanta, so I think everyone sees a glimmer of hope of winning a Natty in basketball and baseball.
